DB2 Database Administrator

Job Summary and Mission This individual contributes to projects success by designing, implementing, and maintaining databases; provides logical and physical database designs; and analyzes, recommends, and implements database requirements of application programming and all aspects of operations, including backup and recovery, data loading and purging, access, and data replication. Summary of Key Responsibilities y y y Participates in the design and implementation of data architecture and strategies and in the definition of standards for the database environment Assists in research, evaluation, and selection of software to support database administration Provides production support by developing operations procedures such as backup/recovery to ensure database availability; monitors/recommends database changes for optimal performance; provides third-level production support on a continuous on-call basis Serves as a team member on projects to advise on data-related issues and represent the enterprise view of the database; collaborates with project lead and others to transform logical data models into physical database designs; builds physical databases to support projects; reviews, tests, and evaluates the impact of changes to the database environment

Summary of Experience y y y y y Extensive knowledge and experience in creating tables, building indices, developing stored procedures, partitioning, monitoring, performance tuning, and trouble shooting. Must have experience in designing, enhancing, maintaining and supporting large databases At least 3+ years of experience administering DB2 9.x database on Windows Strong experience in High Availability (cluster, mirror, log ship) & high transactional systems Must be a self-starter with the ability to investigate and work independently without supervision
