Within cities, Tulip creates a cellular network using Non-line of sight and line of Sight radios. Non line of sight radios use the property of reflection of radio waves against buildings and therefore there is no need for towers. Radios affixed on the walls or on a pole of upto about three meters high, allows them to connect to the nearest base station of Tulip. An area like the NCR of Delhi or Bombay city and the nearby suburbs would have upto about 50 base stations and each subscriber radio has a range of 2 to 4 km. Each base station has a capacity of 4 MBPS and this bandwidth is shared.

Bandwidth on demand is allocated as per the individual requirement of each subscriber.

All base stations are connected to each other through multiple redundant links so that in the case of failure of any connectivity multiple alternate paths are always available. The entire network is centrally managed and each end-point is constantly monitored at the Network Operation Centre (NOC) at Mumbai with the Backup NOC at Delhi. Therefore if any link goes down for whatever reason, it immediately shows up on the Network Management Software (NMS) so that proactive action can be taken to rectify it. The customer does not call to lodge a complaint, instead the NOC calls to check why the link is down. State of the art data centres. These datacenters are used to manage the network and also to host the customers servers and network equipment. This not only saves the customers expensive bandwidth but also permits appropriate network management.

Why wireless? Other VPN service providers normally give the last mile connectivity on leased lines, reducing the overall uptime to the weakest link, the existing copper, which is presently also the weakness of the other major service providers. For them, wireless is the exception or they provide connectivity in shared frequency bands whereas Tulip provides last mile connectivity in the licensed bands in major cities, as a result of which there is no interference whatsoever, resulting in very high uptimes. Bandwidth on Demand. The wireless equipment supports bandwidth on demand. Therefore the bandwidth can be changed and upgraded as per the customers requirement in minutes. Our NOC will keep the customer apprised about the bandwidth actually being used by the customer so as to ensure optimum utilisation of the network. Time taken to connect. If the area where connectivity is required is already connected on the network then it takes a day or two to connect any new site. In case of uncovered areas, the connectivity can be provided in just six weeks. Connect anywhere. With the largest network, Tulip can provide connectivity just about anywhere at a very short notice. Security Tulips network is isolated from the Internet through appropriate firewalls and there is a very advanced level of security in place. However every branch where the radios terminate has routers with IP Sec and 3 DES (168 bit) encryption. There is thus an end-to-end security on the entire network. Voice, Data and video. Users can transparently run voice in a closed user group using low cost Voice over IP boxes / IP telephones at no additional cost. Customers do not need to buy individual software or hardware for management. Centrally Managed network. Tulip can manage customers network end to end. Customers do not need an in-house team for network management. Low bandwidth users in volume We offer a very special rate for connectivity of ATMs, Point of sale terminals etc. Tulip can also give low bandwidth of 16K and 32K to customers. This is extremely useful for

corporates who want to connect dealers, C&F agents and other small offices with just one to four users. No other service provider offers a similar service. This often forms the largest part of a customers network. TulipConnect is also an excellent replacement for VSATs. The traditional advantages of low speed connectivity to far-flung areas can now be replaced with low cost high quality bandwidth in the hitherto remote areas at extremely reasonable rates.
