The current chief of state is Emperor Akihito who had had that position since 7 th January 1989 and the head of government is Prime Minister Naoto Kan since 4 th June 2010.

Life Expectancy in Japan

Japan is a country that has one of the longest and biggest life expectancies in the world. Placing the top spot of the world s life expectancy chart by the United Nations with the life expectancy for females at birth with 86 years old, males with 79 years old and an overall life expectancy for both male and female at 82 years old. Here are a few reasons that might be the cause of this: 1. Low fat intake (Ex: Sushi, Salads, Home cooked food) 2. Low alcohol consumption 3. People in Japan have healthy lifestyles But Japan is a low birth rate country and slowly its population is decreasing. Longer life expectancies indicate that the Japanese population is mostly composed of elders.

Human Development Index

Japan is considered to have a high Human Development Index. With a high and long life expectancy and also being a country with a good income. You can say that Japan is at the top of its game. Japan is considered to be one of the world s most profitable countries , which is contributed by: 1. Technology development 2. Entertainment Industry 3. Internationally known culture 4. Strong profitable brands 5. Emerging markets 6. And etc. Also Japan has ensured good education for its people. Considering the fact that the University of Tokyo is ranked no. 24, while university of Kyoto is ranked no. 25 in the ranking of best or top universities in the world.

Argument on Support on
Developing / Developed Countries
As I ve stated within the Human Development Index it is proven that Japan is considered a Developed country. With the fact that Japan has a Large and Long life expectancy. The country also has a large income and has a good education. To support my argument are these facts: Japanese Boybands and Dramas are internationally known such as Hidarime Tantei Eye, Arashi, Hey! Say! JUMP, Uverworld and etc. Proving the fact that Japan is internationally known and that people from all over the world are buying their merchandise, which also indicates that the Japanese entertainment industry has made a lot of income. The Tokyo Stock Exchange is the second largest stock market in the world. Indicates that Japan has superiority over other countries with its large stock market. Japanese food, everyone knows sushi. A fact that the Japanese culture is EVERYWHERE. As almost every country has sushi restaurant.

Compared with Indonesia

Consumer Prices in Japan are 148.22% higher than in Indonesia Consumer Prices Including Rent in Japan are 169.62% higher than in Indonesia Rent Prices in Japan are 219.24% higher than in Indonesia Restaurant Prices in Japan are 128.44% higher than in Indonesia Groceries Prices in Japan are 46.69% higher than in Indonesia Local Purchasing Power in Japan is 491.95% higher than in Indonesia (taken from Numbeo s cost of living comparison)

As you can see this indicates that Japan has a higher cost of living compared to Indonesia. Indonesia s Government type is republic meaning that the people or citizens have more freedom to have a say in what is happening compared to the Japanese government as it is still ruled under constitutional monarchy. Also Indonesia was ranked no. 110 within the List of countries by life expectancy unlike Japan, which is ranked no. 1. This indicates that Japanese people have better lifestyles than Indonesians. What I am able to conclude is that Indonesia has more freedom compared to Japan. But the Japanese environment creates a healthier lifestyle for its people.
