2 Club IT Final Project

Club IT Final Project Club IT is a new nightclub located in the downtown area. Lisa Tejada and Ruben Keys, both of whom have degrees in Business management, worked their way thru college as performing musicians. Thru their college years they learned a lot about the nightclub business and used that knowledge to realize their dream of opening their own nightclub. With the business principles they learned in Business Management Lisa and Ruben have successfully opened Club IT, a high-energy nightclub with an ambiance of fun and energy. Lisa and Ruben have a mission statement which states "We, Ruben and Lisa, offer you live music, DJ's, dance space and refreshments that suit your lifestyle. You are our friends, and we seek to build a community that meets regularly at Club IT." A visit to Club IT is attended by the staff of Club IT. Clients will be served by a wait staff of six, four bartenders, four security personnel, two short order cooks, two stewards, and one assistant manager. Most of the clients served by Club IT are net-generation or mellinials looking to relax and enjoy the company of their peers. Lisa and Ruben have made it clear that their short term goal is to receive information and financial data in a timely manner. They have also made it known they are looking to open a second Club IT in the future. The first major step in this process is to introduce Wi-Fi to Club IT. Allowing the patrons to have wireless internet access will allow them the convenience of being connected and possibly allow some patrons to stay longer. Wireless internet may also add the convenience of the possibility of a wireless ordering system for the servers. Such systems are in use at many high end restaurants around the world. Many servers are already familiar with the systems however training may be

necessary for newer employees. The assistant manager could do this training on a day that is convenient to all the employees. An MIS would assist them in creating spreadsheets, income statements and balance sheets that would keep accrued balances on debits and credits. An update of the OS at Club IT will greatly increase productivity. Updating the system to Windows 7 will not only give the Club IT owners Lisa and Ruben more programs to work with but will also allow them to add newer software which may not work with their older system Windows 2003. Integrating a new food supplier such as Sysco will be of great benefit to Club IT. Sysco offers online ordering, business review, profitability consultation, safety training, and menu analysis, among other services. I feel this would be very beneficial to Club IT to have all of these services available to them from one supplier. IN order to put all of these changes to work Club IT must update the system they currently use. The current configuration for the workstations used by Lisa and Ruben are the following: a. Pentium 4 Processor b. 256 MB RAM c. Ethernet Adapter d. 17 Color Display e. Windows XP Professional I have researched new computers for the club and found that Dell is offering a very attractive deal on new laptops that would be beneficial to Club IT. They offer a Vostro 3750 that offers power and portability along with the following: a. 2nd generation Intel core i5-2450m processor

b. 750 GB SATA hard drive c. 17.3 HD LED display (1600 x 900) w/ anti-glare d. 4 GB DDR# SDRAM @1333 MHz e. Intel HD Graphic 3000 w/ up to 1.6 GB Dynamic video memory f. Optical drive-8x DVD+/-RW w/ double layer DVD +/-R capability g. Mobile connection- always connected where WWAN. WIMAX, 4G or mobile broadband is available in the US h. 15 months of Trend Micro Worry-Free Business security services i. Warranty a. 1 year Basic Limited Warranty b. 1 year NBD on-site service Dell also offers complete IT support and Dell DataSafe online back-up service and recovery manager. I feel this system would add to productivity and allow Lisa and Ruben to add more services as needed in the future. Since both Lisa and Ruben are Business management graduates they should have no problem operating the systems. Dell also includes a benefit called My Business Toolkit. This includes reception program, business security system, and a free website or Facebook page built by professionals. These laptops could be ordered and in place within two weeks. This computer should serve Club IT for quite some time in increasing the technology needed to run a business such as the nightclub. Thru the integration of this system Club IT will add to the convenience of the employees as well as the clientele. The website that can be built by the professionals at Web.com as part of the Toolkit offered by Dell will offer the clientele an opportunity to

purchase tickets or merchandise online. This will also add to the profitability of the club. By initiating the wireless ordering system the employees will become more productive and the clientele will enjoy faster service. With the recommended updates and changes in this presentation Club IT will be well on its way to becoming an even bigger success than it already is. Ticket sales should go up due to the new website. Labor costs should go down because the self-serve website will free up employees to do other jobs than sell tickets. Customers should be comfortable staying at the club longer due to connectivity. Printing and distribution costs should go down because tickets will be pre-printed. Once all aspects of feasibility of these projects have been evaluated Lisa and Ruben can decide which upgrades they choose to implement for the clubs expansion. Whatever decision they make it will bring the club into the information era and increase the popularity of Club IT.
