HEPATOPROTECTIVITY Summary of Project: Hepatic disorders increases noticeable health care burden in several areas of the world. It is one of the most common chronic diseases in the world. It is estimated that around 300 million people in the world have hepatic disorders.The current therapy is inadequate and also the majority of the prescribed drugs unable to block mechanisms that are responsible for causing hepatic disorders, low efficacy, various adverse effects, tolerance and compliance issue. Consequently, a major thrust has been given to identify new drugs preferably from natural origin for mitigating these disorders. Considering the beneficial effect of herbal drugs with minimum side effects, I have selected the above herbal drug for M. Pharm. thesis work, as this plant contains the phytoconstituents which have all the potential that an ideal hepatoprotective drug required. Different types of experimental animal models were selected namely:

Bilary duct ligation in rat. CCl4 induced hepatic injury in rat.
