SHEIKH KHALED BIN ZAYED AL NEHAYAN ...Business leader and philanthropist
Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nehayan is a pioneer extraordinaire; a graduate in Business Administration from Boston University; has completed his PHD course work in Finance from Michigan State University. He is the Chairman and Founder of the Bin Zayed Group- a leading conglomerate established in 1988 with diverse business interests in the local and international markets. The Bin Zayed Groups key activities comprise four business fields: Construction & Energy, Trading & Industry, Real Estate, Technology and Financial Services. Sheikh Khaled holds pivotal positions in several private and public organizations: He serves as Chairman of SALAMA, the largest Islamic Takaful and Re-Takaful Company in the world and Tamweel- a Shariah compliant property mortgage and finance corporation. He is also Vice- Chairman of Dubai Islamic Bank and a Board Member of Abraaj- a global private equity firm. In addition, Sheikh Khaled is on the board of numerous sovereign entities; serving as Chairman of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Board Member of Dubai Real-Estate Corporation DREC (WASL), Dubai School of Government, UAE Insurance Authority, as well as Chairman/Board of The Executive Committee of Dubai Economic Council (DEC). Sheikh Khaleds achievements are by no means restricted to the business arena. His personal contributions in various public serving entities, stands testimony to his commitment for the societal well being: He is a Board Member of JA Worldwide, Chairman of Injaz Al Arab UAE and Vice Chairman of Injaz Al-Arab MENA Region, a subsidiary of Junior Achievement Worldwide, an organization entrusted in preparing the new generation to face current evolving economic challenges. Concurrently, he serves as the Chairman of Al Hikmah Educational Chain, which is engaged in furtherance of education in the region, Vice-Chairman of Human Appeal International, which fights poverty and injustices and the Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Foundation for Human Development, Member of Young Arab Leaders, which aims to boost economic growth in the Arab World byproviding a platform for change. He is also the President of UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation. Sheikh Khaled is keen on participating in World Economic Forum (WEF) every year and Arab Business Council (ABC) as a member. Hes also a prominent public speaker and has given extensive presentations and TV & media interviews on E-Commerce, E-Government, importance of digital Technology, Economic Policy, and various progressive topics, impacting regional economy.

HISTORY
The Bin Zayed Group of Companies is a leading conglomerate with diverse business interests in the local and international markets. The company was first established in 1988 by H. H. Sh. Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nehayan as its Chairman and Owner. Our initial business ventures included management of Real Estate and Construction of Residential and commercial buildings, including hotels, villas, godowns, mosques etc. In 1995, the Bin Zayed Group was ready to take on additional challenges in other fields and we annexed the Arabian Gulf Development Company dealing in Information Technology and Hardware/Software development. During the same period Katilink LLC was also added to our banner along with all other businesses under its umbrella i.e. Pharmaceuticals, Health Care, Carpets, Furniture, Interior Designing, Vending Machines, Elevators, knowledge Management and Consultancy etc. By 1998 the Bin Zayed Group of companies had acquired under its wings various other businesses like oil, investments and even distance learning. The Company has grown over the years from an initial staff strength of about 25 people to its present strength of 5000 employees including Management and workers. Among the recent additions to the Bin Zayed Group umbrella, is Madar Research established in Dubai Media City in June 2002, and the only primary and secondary B2B research company conducting research on the Knowledge Economy in the Middle East. Another prestigious project, Duboats was founded in January 2003. Laying emphasis on the requirements of safety, speed, reliability and comfort, Duboats will offer a wide range of sailing and power boats to cover various recreational uses by the GCC's clients - from family cruises to sport fishing and power racing.
