Invite preschoolers to pretend to cook breakfast for friends. Talk about what people like to eat for breakfast. Remark that Jesus cooked fish for His friends. Show children the Bible story picture. Remind 1s and 2s that Jesus had friends, and He helped His friends. Put two or three puzzles on the floor. Use Bible-related puzzles or ones that show food familiar to children. While children fits pieces in the frames, comment on the things you have seen children do today. Remark that at church we learn about Jesus and His friends. Jesus loved His friends, and they loved Him. Sing the song at left or the song Jesus Loves Me. Put several tennis balls, a large diameter tube, and a laundry basket on the floor. Encourage two children to take turns rolling a ball through the tube with the other catching it in the basket as it rolls out. After a few turns, children can swap roles. While children roll the balls, sing a song about Jesus and say todays Bible phrase. Begin describing a child by physical features or what he is wearing. Challenge other children to guess the friend being described. Remark that friends at church can know Jesus loves them. Tell boys and girls that Jesus is our friend, just as He was the fishermens friend. Sing the song Oh, How I Love Jesus or another simple song about Jesus.
