How I downgraded my Asus P8P67 Pro B2 motherboard from BIOS version 1502 to 1305

I've decided to share how I successfully downgraded my Asus P8P67 Pro BIOS using software. I wanted to downgrade due the extra voltages that BIOS version 1502 seemed to require (in my experience) in order to achieve the same stable overclocking results as version 1305. I'm not encouraging you to do the same, but am sharing this information as it may interest others who are frustrated that they cannot downgrade their BIOS. If you are not experiencing problems with your current BIOS version, best not to try this.

**Attempt the below at your own risk!**

To flash to an older BIOS image on the Asus P8P67 Pro B2 motherboard:

Download: http://www.ami.com/support/downloads/amiflash.zip (version 1.13 as of writing) Restart your computer and go into the current BIOS and press F5 to load all default stock settings. Save and reboot. Now that you are running at default CPU clock speeds and default BIOS settings, boot into Windows 7. To be safe, close all visable applications and utilities, including those on the system icons bar (near the clock). Disable or unplug the LAN connection. Best to wait a minute once Windows starts just to ensure all boot processes are completely finished and no apps are running. Extract amiflash.zip to a new folder. Go to the new extracted folder: amiflash\aptio\afuwin64 Run AFUWINGUI.exe as Administrator. Click "Open" then browse to the older BIOS file (preferably one version older than the BIOS version you wish to finally flash to). I used BIOS version 1204. Under the Setup tab, tick the "Program All Blocks" check box (see below image)

Click "Flash" and then wait. Don't even move the mouse. It will proceed to flash and verify. After the last write, namely the "programming NCB" area stage, an "Update Failed!" error will appear upon verifying the NCB (Non Critical Block) area (see below image).

Despite the heart palpitations such an error message would normally cause, don't panic about the verify error in the NCB area, as the BIOS flash has worked. You'll soon flash to a newer BIOS version anyway the normal way. Restart the computer from Windows. It will take about 20 seconds longer to start up again than a normal boot, and may even include an automatic shutdown and restart. Just wait until it starts booting by itself again. Go into the (now older version) BIOS and load all defaults, then save and reboot. Enter the BIOS again use the in-built EZ Flash utility to flash to the desired new BIOS version. In my case version 1305. Reboot and re-enter the BIOS. Load all default settings. Save and reboot. Back in the BIOS configure the new BIOS to your desired settings. Save BIOS settings and boot into Windows completely. Restart the computer once more, which may trigger an automatic shutdown and restart as part of the boot up process.

All done. Despite the fright of the verify error, wasn't too hard to perform.

(Note: I've not tested this process with a B3 motherboard. The first known compatible B3 BIOS for the P8P67 Pro is version 1305).
