Theme of the Seminar: Despite the economic slowdown that impacted the world economy in recent past, it is believed that the process of globalization is irreversible. As we progress from an economy dominated by the traditional brick and mortar models to the one of click and mortar models, we remain unsure how it will shape up the global business landscape in the near future. Moreover the impact on the social and political ecology too remains untested. A business model not only specifies how a company intends to make money. It also includes information about why a customer would ever want to give the company any money. At present we have many business strategies but their value realization is very low. The customers are having enough choices but they are not satisfied. This paradoxical situation demands organizations to think about new alternatives and this search is on. The old principles are no longer work in the new economy. We need local solutions to local problems. Old models limit themselves with respect to complexity and speed of implementation. Quite contrary to the belief, innovation rests not in the technology or product, but in the business model itself. Further, new issues and concerns related to gender, social responsibility, environmental responsibility and corporate ethics are influencing the functioning of the corporate.

While we remain uncertain over the turn of the events in the future, it would be interesting to explore the directions the global society, economy and polity would traverse in the coming years and its consequent impact on India as well as the Indian management impact on the global scenario. The seminar would give an opportunity to create a platform to debate and discuss these questions by bringing together scholars, students, practitioners and activists to a common platform so as to seek answers for the emergent challenges posed before Indias upward thrust in the knowledge era. The objectives of the seminar: To highlight the importance of new business models in changing business environment; To provide a forum to discuss the concepts related to business models by industry experts, users and academia; To document various business models that are successful in India; To focus on resolving the issues in implementing new models; To identify the needed tools & technologies that may support better implementation of new business models; To bring out the improvements in business processes that may facilitate the conversion of ideas into new business models; Sub Themes: Sustainable Business Models Social Entrepreneurship Organizational Learning Systems Global Best Practices Indigenous Business Practices Green Business Initiatives Inclusive Growth Models Collaborative Commerce Best Manufacturing Practices Building Human Capital Knowledge Management Models Global Delivery Model Talent Management Imperatives Role of Social Media Risk Mitigation Techniques Socially Responsible Investment Ethical Dimensions of Business Change Management Technology Management Triple Bottom Line System International Reporting Standards Corporate Governance Issues HR Metrics Public Private Partnership
