General industry safety professionals will benefit from this comprehensive executive level course as they learn about the scope and
application of OSHA standards to workplace safety and health. Special emphasis is placed on using the 29 CFR Part 1910 general industry
standards to identify and recommend abatement for the greatest safety and health hazards. Participants receive an OSHA 511 general
industry safety and health course completion card from the National Safety Education Center and an NWTC certificate of completion.
OSHA 501 for General Industry Partnered with the National Safety Education Center
Presenter: Larry TeStroete
You can become an Authorized OSHA Trainer. This course, designed for general industry personnel, presents detailed information on how the
provisions of the OSH Act may be implemented in the workplace. Rights and responsibilities under the Act, the appeals process, and record keeping
requirements are covered. The course also includes an introduction to general industry standards and an overview of the requirements of the more
frequently cited standards. General safety and industrial hygiene topics are covered in one or two-hour modules and additional training and reference
resources are noted in class. Attendees participate in live training experiences. Upon successful completion of this course, the workshop activities,
a training module plan, and a content exam, participants become U.S. Department of Labor-OSHA authorized outreach trainers.
Prerequisites: OSHA 511 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry executive course, and five years of General
Industry safety experience or other equivalent safety education and experience and prior approval from NSEC course chairperson.

This two-part seminar covers the topic of the Triple Bottom Line (TBL). TBL commonly refers to a strategy based upon economics,
equity and the environment, also referred to as People, Planet and Profit. The semininar will enable participants to learn the concepts behind
the triple bottom line and get an introduction to current tools available to implement the TBL strategy. Participants will conduct an initial
assessment of their own firm’s status and leave with a thorough understanding of the issues and the business case for sustainability.

Steven Haskell
Steven Haskell is the Director of Shawano County Emergency
Management and a member of the Bio-terrorism Consortium of Lake
Michigan since 2004. Steven was a hazardous materials planner and
member of the Maine Emergency Management Agency staff prior to
his current position. He is a graduate from the University of Maine
with a bachelor of science in business administration and the
University of Wisconsin Emergency Management, Planning and
Administration program. Steven is also a member of the Wisconsin
Emergency Management Association Board of Directors. In addition
to his emergency management experience and education, he is
currently a certified instructor with Northeast Wisconsin Technical
College, the State of Wisconsin for the Indicent Command System and
the Department of Homeland Security for computer-assisted
management of emergency operations.
Sue Zittlow
Sue received her bachelors degree in Mathematics and Computer
Science from UW - LaCrosse and a masters degree in Instructional
Technology from St. Norbert’s College. She is currently the
Technology Specialist and Internal Consultant in the Staff &
Organizational Development Department at Northeast Wisconsin
Technical College. Sue teaches and assists faculty and staff on
computer software applications and computer hardware. She has
extensive experience using several Microsoft® applications
including Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
