Wheat growing regions of N Central China and portions of the SW and S, too show excellent subsurface moisture. Areas in Shandong are less than 100mm (not supportive) of subsurface moisture while surrounding areas of Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui and Henan (winter wheat belt of China) has excellent sub-surface conditions.

Snow covers western and northern China with runoff and widespread on-going spring rains (snow in north and far west) being further supporting of soil moisture conditions, not only in the Yangtze River Basin but NE China region too.
