These crocheted doilies, worked in pineapple design, can be made either of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton or of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. The choice of the cotton governs the size and texture of the doilies. Continue to follow directions for first scallop from 2nd row to end; break off. Work 12 more scallops same as second scallop. EDGING: Working along end st of shells, join thread with a dc in the first ch 3 of the 1st short row of 1st scallop, * (ch 7, complete a picot, 1 dc over the end st of next row) twice, ch 7, complete a picot, 1 dc in 1st dc of 4th short row, ch 7, complete a picot, skip next 4 sts, 1 dc in next dc, (ch 7, complete a picot, 1 dc over the end st of next row) 3 times, 1 dc over the end st of 1st row of next scallop; repeat from * around, end with a sl st in the first dc at beginning of round; break off. This completes the small doily.

LUNCHEON SET Using heavy cotton, make a large doily for center piece and a small doily for each plate mat. BUFFET SET Using heavy cotton, make a large and two small doilies.
