ICC Certification Information Renewals, Transition to S1 and S2, and New Candidates
Renewals To renew your Special Inspector certification, you need continuing education credits - 25 contact hours, or 2.5 CEUs, of approved credit. For other ICC certifications, the requirements for credits vary. For details, go to the ICC website, www.iccsafe.org, click on the Certification and Testing tab. Download both the Renewal Bulletin and the Renewal Application. Transition from ICC Structural Steel and Welding Certification (85) to the S1 and/or S2 Certifications Special provisions apply regarding transition from the old Structural Steel and Welding Special Inspector certification (85) to the new Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector certification (S1) and/or the new Structural Welding Special Inspector certification (S2). Go to the ICC website, www.iccsafe.org, use the tab for Certification and Testing, linking to Certified Code Safety Professionals. You need the Certification Transition Form - Structural Steel & Bolting Special Inspector (S1) and Structural Welding Special Inspector (S2). You can transition, even without renewal, if you recently renewed your Structural Steel and Welding Inspection (85) certification, but your S1 / S2 certification will expire on the same date as your 85 certification would have expired. Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector (S1) Current ICC Structural Steel and Welding Special Inspector (85) Certification holders automatically qualify for the S1 certification, upon transition application. Structural Welding Special Inspector (S2) Current ICC Structural Steel and Welding Special Inspector (85) Certification holders qualify for the S2 certification, upon transition application, under either of the following two provisions: A - If you are not an AWS CWI or CAWI, you can attend SSTC's Structural Welding Inspection one-day seminar and then you need not take the S2 examination. The SSTC seminar has been designated by ICC for this purpose. Submit proof of seminar attendance (which we provide) with your transition application. B - If you have a current ICC Structural Steel and Welding Special Inspector (85) Certification, and a current AWS CWI or CAWI certification, you qualify for the S2 certification without examination or the SSTC seminar. You'll need to submit a photocopy of your CWI or CAWI Certification with your transition application. If you do not have a current ICC Structural Steel and Welding Special Inspector (85) Certification, but you do have a current AWS CWI or CAWI Certification, you can qualify for the Structural Welding Special Inspector (S2) Certification by FIRST passing the Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector examination (S1), and then submitting a copy of your AWS Certification with your transition application. SSTC seminars do not waive the Structural Steel and Bolting Inspector certification examination. To get your initial certification for ICC Structural Steel and Bolting (S1) or Structural Welding Inspection (S2) Go to the ICC website www.iccsafe.org. Click on the tab for Certification and Testing. Download and read the ICC National Certification Examination Information Bulletin, and check for other available information such as sample exam questions. Where to get more information ? www.iccsafe.org, click on Education and Certification tab, then Certification and Testing, then Certified Code Safety Professional Certification 1-888-ICC-SAFE (1-888-422-7233) Certification Renewal, ext. 33815 - or email certexam@iccsafe.org Special Inspection Examinations, ext. 33823 - or email certexam@iccsafe.org
