Singing and Missions I decided to participate in the Vocal Tricks for Serious Singers class for Christian Life College this time around. I have already been through the Andy Griffith study (its wonderful!) and have read Honor Begins at Home. One of my earliest sources of happiness was music. My parents particularly my mother are talented musicians, so music was always part of my life. Ive been a member of choirs both large and small, in college and in churches. (When we were members of Travis Avenue BC in Ft. Worth, our choir was 250 plus people!) Melanie Cole is leading our Vocal Tricks class, and our first meeting last night brought back a flood of memories from choirs past. Warm-up exercises, breathing exercises, making sure you have correct posture, singing scales these were all part it. As we were doing all these weird-sounding things, something hit me: I really miss being in choir! Now, because of the way our church is set up, its not really realistic for me to sing with the choir. But boy the passion was brought back to me last night! As we move into our Missions Focus Month in March, let me ask you a question: what is your passion? I believe God builds into each one of us a set of skills, talents, and passions. He wants us to use these things for His glory. Into the hearts of many, He has built a passion for missions. You know people like this. Every time a missionary from Africa or some other far off place comes to speak, these people are the ones who cant control the tears running down their faces. Theyre the ones who actually take that pamphlet home and pray for our missionaries on their birthdays. Theyre the ones who feel that deep conviction when they hear about lost people anywhere in the world. Did I just describe you? If so, youre going to love March at FBC! There will be so many opportunities to serve, especially through Sunday School. I hope you can find your place of service and put that passion to work in March!

The Andy Griffith Bible Study The response we had last Sunday to our new session of Christian Life College was overwhelming! On our first day of class we had to relocate to a larger room due to the size of our group. During our first session, we focused on judging others and how we treat others. This week we will watch the episode entitled Opie and the Spoiled Kid and focus on the values of a strong work ethic and the proper use of money. Come join us this Sunday at 5:00 p.m. in the 39 and Holding Room across from the kitchen. Heaven Bound Quartet in Concert If you enjoy the sound of classic gospel music, make plans to come join us on Sunday, March 11 at 6:00 p.m. The Heaven Bound Quartet will be in concert during the evening worship service. Mickey Parker, a location musician, is a member of this group so dont miss this event! John

SPRING into March with. . .
. .great Bible Study Adults - "Son of God: Meet Him" (lessons from the book of Luke) Youth - The Life of Christ Children - The Prophets Preschool - "God's Beautiful World" . . .mission and ministry opportunities March is MISSIONS month. Throughout the month we will focus on ways to live out our faith through service to others. Every Sunday School class is challenged to find a ministry or mission to fulfill this month. We will have missionaries here at the end of the month from Missouri. They will be housed at our church while they work on improving and expanding the facilities at Mt. Grace for Women. We have a mission to feed them breakfast each day and snacks in the evening. We have a mission to help work on this local facility with the group from Missouri. We have a mission to provide needed items for Mt. Grace. God will send many other ministry opportunities our way if we but look for them. Let us work together to reflect the values of our Savior to a world that does not know Him, but desperately needs Him! . . .personal spiritual growthChristian Life College has just begun. We are offering five classes with varied study. We had a huge number of people who attended last Sunday evening. It is not too late for you to be a part of this opportunity to grow in Christ. Be here Sunday at 5PM (or 4:30 for the "James" study). See you in Sunday School, Theresa

For the month of March, we have been challenged to focus on Missions Awareness. The Childrens ministry will be participating in Kits for Kids. Back-to-school shopping requires little more than a trip to the store for most American families. But even basic school supplies like pencils, notebooks and erasers are hard to come by - and nearly impossible to afford - for many families living in poverty around the world. Thats why Baptist Global Response is sponsoring the Kits for Kids campaign a unique opportunity to help equip a child with the tools needed to get an education. Its also a chance for families to teach their children what it means to love others by helping kids in need. Each RA & GA that completes a Kits for Kids will earn the Operation Education Badge to be worn on their vest. Adults you are welcome to join us in the project by completing the shopping list or donating to help cover shipping cost of the supplies collected. Complete your shopping list and drop off your items in the bin located in front of church office. We will provide the Large Ziplock Bags and Labels and the RAs & GAs will pack the items to be shipped on April 11th. In His Service, Jason Mercer
