MINUTES OF THE CRISIS ASSOCIATION OF MALAWI (CAM) HELD ON 6 MARCH 2012

Opening Remarks The meeting was opened at 18hrs with remarks from the Vice Chairman, Political Crisis who offered welcoming remarks and thanked all for coming. Electricity crisis offered a prayer in a form of a blackout and indicated it would run until towards the end of the meeting but should there be need, he would be in a position to extend it to cover the intercession prayers after the meeting.

2. Chairmans Update The Chairman said was in possession of classified information that a team of World Bank officials is in the country to discuss with government some issues pertaining to CAM members especially devaluation, forex and other undisclosed issues The Chairman received news that a new political party had been formed which would coincidentally give more powers to Political crisis

Opposition parties were planning to meet President and the Chairman was worried as that would have ripple effects on the Political and Economic crisis survival The Chairman reported that CSOs were returning to the UN sponsored negotiations with government The Chairman said that CSOs are denying planning a coup plot slated for 14 March and asked Political crisis to verify the issue A new member Sugar has requested to join CAM and members agreed to allow him in a nonvoting capacity until members are assured of his caliber in the next 3 months 3. Reports from Members Water reported that with the continuing rains, Water crisis is failing to exert his mandate as people are having alternative sources of water With the coming of the AU Summit, electricity said he might be excused by June when government intends to cut off incidence of blackouts as per guests that will come for the Summit 4. AOB The Chairman advised the meeting that following the Presidents remarks from Thyolo that he be given 12 months to fix the economy, he indicated he sees the President banning CAM and members might not be allowed to operate in Malawi. The Chairman then asked the legal team led by Devaluation o look into the issue and report back during the next meeting as regards way forward.
