TITLE: ANG PINOY NARS AT ANG BUONG MUNDO: A Seminar on Transcultural Nursing Practices PROPONENTS: Claudette Marie M.

Atienza Lady Janice J. Marco RATIONALE: This seminar is anchored on Madeleine Leiningers Transcultural Nursing Theory. As nurses seeking greener pasture abroad they must be endowed with the knowledge and concepts of varied cultures, heritages and health practices to foster respect and effective nursing practice. This seminar shall hone cultural sensitivity for nurses who are in the caring profession and are of service to people of varied cultures and nationalities. DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY: This endeavor shall be held at the Concourse Convention Center on February 20, 2012 and shall start at 8:00 in the morning till 4:00 in the afternoon. It shall be a whole day event divided into three lectures. The first lecture shall tackle on the main concepts and theories regarding transcultural nursing. The second lecture will center on the common transcultural beliefs, practices and taboos of common countries wherein Pinoy nurses are working e.g. (Saudi and the Middle Eastern countries, Japan, Singapore, London and the United States). After a lunch break the third part of the lecture series shall commence centering on the nursing practice concepts as to dealing with clients of varied cultures and traditions. OBJECTIVE: To inculcate the knowledge, skills and core values of transcultural nursing so as to produce effective, globally competent and high caliber exported nurses endowed with the training and concept of transcultural nursing practice.
