Omar is a Toronto lawyer focusing on health law, human rights and reputationmanagement. He has taught law and ethics at Ryerson University and has been aregular lecturer in communications and social media at the Schulich School ofBusiness. He currently sits as Vice-Chair of the OBA’s Young Lawyers Division(Toronto), and was recently named one of the top 12 social media influencerspracticing law in Canada.
Hugh Scher is the founder of the law firm Scher Law Professional Corporation,where he leads a team in the practice of employment and human rights law aswell as disability insurance law. He is frequently called upon to advise employersand employees about issues related to the accommodation of people withdisabilities in the workplace, return to work plans, complaints of discriminationand harassment, the investigation of harassment complaints and complexwrongful dismissal cases. He served for six years as Chair of the Human RightsCommittee of the Council of Canadians with Disabilities.Meryl has always had a strong commitment to social justice and social reform.She graduated with distinction from the University of King’s College andDalhousie University, majoring in philosophy and contemporary studies. Whileat Osgoode, Meryl was the founding member and divestment chair of Stand York, an organization dedicated to raising awareness of and advocating for anend to the genocide in Darfur. She also did volunteer work for Bakerlaw and theCanadian Civil Liberties Association, researching various areas of human rightslaw.Raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Africa, Olivia is anemployment and human rights lawyer with an appreciation of the need for civilprotections. Olivia obtained her law degree from the University of Ottawa whereshe was involved in many student and community-based organizations. She joined Whitten & Lublin in 2011 in order to focus on employment and humanrights law.Ellen obtained her law degree from the University of Ottawa. During law school,she received the Ultramar Award for Community Commitment recognizing hercontributions to the law review, legal clinic, and various students’ associations.Ellen was licensed to practice law in Ontario in 2008 after articling at a nationallaw firm. She co-authored an article for the Canadian Compensation andBenefits Reporter, and has been a presenter at the Human ResourcesProfessionals Association.
