What is ArcGIS for AutoCAD?
ArcGIS for AutoCAD is a free, downloadable tool that offers seamless interoperability between AutoCAD and the ArcGIS platform. ArcGIS for AutoCAD users are provided with quick and easy access, within the AutoCAD environment, to enterprise geographic information system (GIS) data published by ArcGIS Server. In addition, ArcGIS for AutoCAD gives users the ability to prepare data for use in a GIS while working within existing CAD standards.

Customize your ArcGIS for AutoCAD mapping applications with the rich set of included AutoLISP tools. AutoCAD les enhanced with the mapping speci cation for drawings can be used directly as GIS content in applications such as ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS for AutoCAD, or custom AutoCAD applications that have implemented the data encoding method.
