Salary: Competitive Location: Manchester, Lancashire Job Reference: Caterer/UKI2609 Employer Type: Hotel Date Posted: 26/02/2011 12:00:55 Job Description The Manchester Marriott Victoria & Albert Hotel is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Housekeeping Supervisor for our vibrant, city centre Hotel. This position works closely with the Head Housekeeper and focuses on supporting the day to day activities in Housekeeping and Laundry. Requirements Experience: Entry level supervisor position

Skills and Knowledge: Previous knowledge of Housekeeping essential Good communication skills (verbal, listening, writing) Strong organisational skills Able to work alone and within a team Innovative, pro-active and reliable Ability to use standard computer software applications and hotel systems Effective conflict management skills Knowledge of basic sanitation requirements/controls and applications of relevant cleaning chemicals Effective decision making skills Effective problem solving skills Strong customer and associate relation skills Good training/facilitator skills Ability to effectively manage labour productivity Knowledge of purchasing, inventory controls, supplies and equipment Knowledge of overall hotel operation Knowledge of safety standards

Education or Certification: High School Diploma or equivalent

Background: Good leadership skills Good communication skills Able to work under pressure Be flexible as the position involves long hours and weekends Highly motivated and committed

Responsibilities The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position: Operations/Property Management:

Supervises daily shift operations and ensures compliance with all housekeeping policies, standards and procedures Supervises the Housekeeping shifts, including "breaking out the house" Runs and interprets departmental reports as necessary Assists in supervising an effective inspection program for all guest rooms and public areas Inspects guest bedrooms on a daily basis Understands the functions of the laundry section and assisting in supervising their daily operations Manages linen inventory and guest supplies and assists in ordering where necessary Supervises the Housekeeping department in the absence of the Head Housekeeper Communicates areas in need of attention to staff and follows up to ensure understanding and compliance Operates all department equipment as necessary and reports any malfunctions Ensures all associates have proper supplies, equipment and uniform Ensure effective communication with the Front Office Department regarding guest room status Works effectively with the maintenance department on any guest room maintenance issues Supports energy conservation efforts and help monitor compliance Help with the training of associates to ensure Brand Standards are met and upheld Supervises turndown service and special needs of VIPs Performs all duties of Housekeeping Supervisor as necessary

Guest Satisfaction: Sets a positive example for guest relations Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels Effectively handle any guest issues in a prompt and professional manner Empowers associates to provide excellent customer service within guidelines Observe associates and provide helpful feedback to individuals to continually improve service performance

Human Resources: Supports training initiatives for all current and new associates Coaches, counsels and encourages associates, assisting with any questions or concerns Participates in departmental meetings and continually communicates a clear and consistent message regarding the departmental and Hotel goals Participates in associate recognition program

Financial Management: Comprehends budgets, operating statements and payroll progress reports to assist in the financial management of the department Utilises the labour management system effectively to schedule in line with business demands Helps manage payroll administration Participates in the management of departmental controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals Understands the impact of the department's operations on the overall financial goals and objectives of the Hotel

Other: Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs
