DESCRIPTION
Personal Support Workers assist with the tasks of daily living. Services are provided in homes and apartments in the community, in long-term facilities, congregate housing settings and day programs. PSWs must develop a broad range of abilities beyond dexterity skills. They must provide not only for the comfort, safety and well-being of their clients, but also demonstrate sensitivity and respect for those in their care. The attitude, abilities and approach of the worker are critical to the well-being and health of the people they support. (taken from the NACC)

Note: The Supervised and the Precepted Clinical Placements are a blend of Institutional (Nursing Home) and the Community (Agency) placement with a 60% maximum/40% minimum split in hours. For more information please refer to School Policies - Part 5
EVALUATIONS
Each module contains at least one of the following evaluation methods: quiz, test, performance demonstration. Passing Grade for all tests, quizzes and assignments is 70% Performance demonstrations contain a rating scale. Students must pass all performance demonstrations. If unsuccessful, student must repeat the demonstration. NACC FINAL EXAM Students must pass the NACC Final Examination to complete the program Exam dates will be scheduled by the college Cost of exam: Please refer to Student Enrollment Contract More information will be provided upon completion of the theory portion
