Report on events Conducted by Nepathya Aaghaz2011 (14th July 2011)

This annual event conducted in the very first month of the start of academic session is basically aimed at welcoming the first year students and their talents. This year as well the event proved to be an ice breaker between the first year students and seniors and also helped them shed their inhibitions and stand up for their talents. It brought to light the enormous talent in these budding managers and acted as a stress buster for the students. There were two major events : Singing (Solo and Duet) Dancing (Solo) The judges for the event were: Pervez Rehmani Finalist from Dance India Dance Rita Kaul ( Renowned T.V. and Radio Singer) Suhail Kaul ( Given hits in movies like Metro, Dhol & Golmaal Retuns)

FAHRENHEIT (19-20 Aug 11)

Fahrenheit is an Inter division war of cultural talents. Each year, it has acted as a platform for individuals of all the programs be it Core, or Focused programs or Part time MBA to come together and enjoy the celebrations, filling hearts with unbound Joys and Energy. Fahrenheit 11 was an extravaganza of entertainment and was a huge success!!There were 8 events organized by the team of Nepathya, who worked day and night to make this two day cultural evening a success.

1st day of Fahrenheit11 following events took Place:

Coffee Couple: It was a game where in each team comprised of a couple and the most compatible couple would win.

BOLLYWOOD BADSHAH: This is one event which has its fan following from school and college goers to housewives, professionals and celebrities. It was a game which was an amalgamation of Bollywood Quiz and Antakshari.

FINGER PAINTING and PHOTOGRAPHY were conducted parallel along with other events. In finger painting in teams of two you had to paint on your hand and each team came out with beautiful creative ideas.

DUMB C (Dumb charades) was also one of the competitions conducted in a team of two and was a great success too.

2nd day of Fahrenheit11 was a cultural evening which had various stage competitions like Singing Competitions, Dancing Competition, AdMad Show, Showdown and was presided over by celebrity Judges

SINGING COMPETITION The best singing talents of NMIMS were showcased in this enthralling event

DANCING COMPETITION This was an interdivision group dancing competition. Dance Competition was judged by Mr Anand Majundar, the founder of QUICK STEP SALSA ACADEMY. He was accompanied by Mrs. Sangeeta Mehta for judging the event; she is also a lead instructor in Quick Step Salsa Academy and has pursued Bharatnatyam for 13 years.

ADMAD SHOW This was basically a humorous ad making competition. The teams were supposed to present the ad in a form of short skit. The well known Director Of Super hit movie Delly BellyMr

Abinay deo visited the evening as Judge of ADMAD show.

SHOWDOWN This consisted of the finals events of the day. The sub events were Pepsoholic (fastest pepsi drinking) and Tug of War (rope pulling) and Arm Wrestling

All the events ended with much fanfare in santokba hall and we saw Division B coming out to be the overall winner of the Fahrenheit competition!!

Salsa Workshop by Nepathya NMIMS in collaboration with Salsa India Stress is just an absolute killer. Most people dont know the incredible power they have to control stress. Dance is the eternal stress reliever. Ever wondered how dancers across the world glow so daringly at any given time in their lives. Today when stress is a major problem faced by the youth in day to day life Nepathya thought of promoting dancing amongst the students because not only is it healthy but also a very enjoyable activity. And to easily merge it into the schedule of the students the timings were chosen to be evening after classes and that to two days a week to give an optimum balance between work and play. The response generated was enormous and it proved out to be a successful initiative. The classes are proposed to be conducted for 6 months seeing the response of the students. The course is brought to them at very subsidized rate of Rs 600/- per head for a month. The Salsa India Academy is benefitting so much from the enormous turnout that they are sponsoring our dance team and Club. About 80 students are enrolled for the sessions and we expect more to turn up in the coming months.

Zephyr the College Dance Team, OxyMorons The College Band This year Nepathya also facilitated the formation of the College Dance Team Zephyr and the College Band OxyMorons. Auditions for the dance team were held and judged by the trainers of Salsa India who also partner in choreographing for the team. Both the teams performed in our annual B- School fest Paragana-2011 and Euphoria 12

(The Inter College Group Dance Competition)

Fash Parade
(The Inter College Fashion Show Competition) Ten teams from various colleges of Mumbai representing various disciplines participated in the event held at JRM Grounds and the teams put up a spectacular show with their art which knew no bounds. Through their dance and fashion performances they carved out the cultures of Japan, India, Tribes, etc and brought to reality the fantasies of Fairy tales too. The event also witnessed celebrity judges like VJ Mia, VJ and upcoming bollywood actress; Shampa Sonthalia, Choreographer and Winner- Jhalak Dikhla JaNMIMS also represented in the competitions with its official dance team Zephyr- which was choreographed by Mr. Amay, Dance India Dance fame renowned choreographer Terence Lewis.

The fashion show team of NMIMS was also choreographed by Ms. Parul Bindal, an upcoming model and one of the top 15 contestants of Femina Miss India.

Nepathya also credited itself with the silver spoon birth of the dramatics team Rang Punch on the star studded night which enthralled the audience with their first ever performance. Another jewel in the kitty of Nepathya was the live performance of official college band Oxymorons which lived up to its expectations and added the glitz to the night with its rocking tracks. Nepathya as the cultural cell of NMIMS touched upon every aspect of the art form and beautifully indeed. The vigour, colour and the flavours of the events were yet again successful in keeping up the brilliance of the scintillating culture of NMIMS!
