1. Scope of Work

SCOPE OF WORK (APPENDIX A)

The Scope of Work for this Subcontract includes, but is not limited to, the design, engineering, material, accessories, labour, tools, plant, equipment and transportation required to execute and complete the work as herein described. 1. On contract award, provide a certificate of insurance, acceptable to Aecon, naming Aecon Buildings as additional insured. The certificate will carry a minimum coverage of $5,000,000.00, or any higher amount as specified in the contract documents. Also, submit an up-to-date proof of coverage from Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and completed form for registration of constructors and employees engaged in construction from the Ministry of Labour, as per section 5, Reg. 213/91. On contract award, provide completed CCDC Document No. 11 complete with Aecon supplemental attachment. On contract award, each subcontractor is to immediately provide Aecon Buildings with a procurement Schedule, listing major equipment deliveries, emphasizing at that time where potential timely deliveries may be a problem and defining remedial action(s) they propose to satisfy/maintain schedule (refer to schedule clauses in the Aecon subcontract). Time is of the essence. The Subcontractor has included all premium time or shift work, or both, required to meet the requirements of the project schedule. Include for all measures necessary to maintain schedule such as, but not limited to, additional manpower, equipment and hours of operation. This trade, at any time, shall not alter the work crew or reduce the work crew without notification and/or permission from Aecon. The work crew can be increased as is required by the project and the project schedule. This would also include any schedule slippage by this trade, or any occurrence when this trade is at fault. 5. This project is phased in two stages. The completion date for Stage I is May 1, 2006 (refer to schedule for details). All Stage I finishes, Mechanical systems, Electrical systems and life safety including but not limited to fire alarm and fire protection must be 100% complete for occupancy by owner. This Subcontractor will provide all measures necessary to accommodate the phasing of this project. Stage I is defined as indicated on drawing A3.01. It includes all areas between GL 9X 30. In addition, it includes Stair # 5, Corridors 1400H, 2400F, 3400Fand 4400F. 6. Provide for installation and removal of all temporary services as required for the occupancy of Stage I. Provide a copy of your Companys Corporate Health and Safety Policy to Aecon Buildings, immediately upon award. Also, review Aecons Health & Safety and Environmental Manual Overview and endorse and return to Aecon page 2 of 11, Section 5, of same. (Note: Copy available for review in Aecon Head Office plans room.)

Provide Aecon Buildings with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) respective to your trade contract work, as required by W.H.M.I.S. (Occupational Health & Safety Act) including: Immediate provision (i.e. prior to any site mobilization) to Aecon Buildings site superintendent of all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). (Note: This is very crucial and must be complied with when started. No progress monies will be released for failure to conform). Instruction/training of on-site personnel regarding handling/labeling/storage of hazardous materials pertinent to this trade. Posting of adequate signage forewarning of hazardous materials and/or conditions.

Maintain your own quality assurance program and ensure same complies with the contract. Apply, pay for and obtain all permits respective to your work. Include for such scaffolding, equipment, tools, machinery and incidental appurtenances necessary towards the proper execution of the work of your trade. Same shall be in accordance with the requirements of all governing safety regulations. Remove and dispose of all garbage on a daily basis and maintain workspace in a broom clean condition at all times. Failure to maintain the workspace in a proper condition will result in Aecon Buildings carrying out the necessary cleaning with the cost apportioned to the respective trade as applicable (after 4 hours written notice). All trades are required to contribute manpower for general clean-up on a weekly basis. Contribution is based on one worker for each ten (10) people employed. Parking is not permitted on site. Vehicles will be towed at the owners expense. Aecon has retained a limited number of parking spots adjacent to the site. Allocation of parking spots will be by Aecons Superintendent. Any additional parking or carpooling required by this Subcontractor will be at the cost of this Subcontractor. Subcontractors may purchase parking passes from the university for lot P80 (South West corner of Stone Rd. and Gordon). A maximum of 50 parking spaces are available at P80. In addition, there is limited parking available in the temporary parking lot shown on drawing A1.03, located west of Barn 37. Measures are to be taken by this Subcontractor to minimize the requirements for parking. On contract award, promptly prepare and submit shop drawings/catalogue cuts/samples for approval. A submittal schedule is to be submitted immediately after award. Ten (10) copies of shop drawings are to be submitted to Aecon. Do not block roads or impede traffic at any time. Provide flagmen or police officers to direct traffic as necessary for your own deliveries and erection sequencing. Provide all barricades and safety signs as required. Maintain clear access of fire route at all times as outlined in the impact studies, unless otherwise agreed by University of Guelph and Aecon.

Arrange for the provision of your own lockable storage facility and site office trailer(s) within the construction site where authorized by Aecon Buildings. Security for tools, equipment and materials remains each Subcontractors responsibility. Dust control and street clean-up to be by trade contractor responsible. Protect existing curbs, sidewalks, etc., intended to remain. contractor responsible. Repairs to same to be by trade

Be responsible for the provision and building in of all templates anchors, sleeves, inserts or similar accessories pertinent to your work. Sleeve holes. On non-designed or introduced sleeves that were not required, reinstate according to contract specifications or pack with insulation/firestopping and sealant, as per instruction from Aecon. Includes holes cut out for this trade and/or cut out by this trade. Prevent electrolytic action and corrosion between dissimilar metals and materials. Protect, relocate or maintain existing active services when encountered. Coordinate any required temporary disconnection(s) of existing mechanical/electrical services with Aecon Buildings site superintendent. Disruptions shall be kept to a minimum and shall be for limited periods only after adequate forewarning to/agreement with Aecon Buildings. Include for the provision of supplementary spot heaters/task lighting as may be required during the work of this trade contract. Normal 120V temporary power will be provided for construction use within one hundred (100) feet radius of your work area. All power required above and beyond 120V single phase, including connections, will be at the Subcontractors own expense. Until such time that temporary power is available, the Subcontractor shall provide its own source of power for the performance for the work, at his own expense. This is applicable but not restricted to equipment such as swing stages, welding machines, coring, etc. Coordinate your work with the adjoining work of other trades. Provide and maintain all necessary scaffolding, shoring, bracing, etc. as may be necessary or required towards execution of the work of your trade contract. Protect your trade contract work during the course of your work operation. Protect work by others, as required to perform own work. All university buildings, with the exception of the canteen area in building #158 are strictly off limits. Access to campus buildings will be permitted only if required. and personnel will be required to wear an identification badge at all times, which can be obtained from Aecon. This regulation will be strictly enforced. 31. All personnel must undergo a safety orientation. Orientations are conducted weekly by Aecons safety officer on site and take approximately one hour. Provide unionized workers at the site at all times, according to local jurisdictions. All hoisting will be the responsibility of the subcontractor. provided. No man and material hoist will be

Deliveries of all materials are to be in a just in time basis. Storage of materials on site will be restricted to a bare minimum coordinated through Aecon superintendents. Subcontractor is responsible for all unloading and handling of own material. Coordinate the on-site placement of any material and/or equipment with Aecon so as not to impede any other Subcontractors operations who are working concurrently on the site. This Subcontractor understands that materials stored on the site may be required to be moved by this contractor several times at this Subcontractors expense. Major bench marks and gridlines only will be provided by Aecon. Extended layout work and survey from same to be completed by the Subcontractor. Verify all dimensions on site before preparing Shop Drawings. Be responsible for dimensions to be confirmed or correlated at the site, for information that pertains solely to fabrication processes, techniques of construction/installation and for general interfacing with the work of others. Provide a responsible representative who will attend all Job Progress Meetings conducted by the Project Manager on a weekly basis to review construction schedules, establish trade priorities, etc. All changes in the work are to be priced as per the prime contract. Mark-ups will be as per the prime contract. There will be a strict conduct policy in place for the duration of the project. Absolutely no alcohol products, illegal drugs or non-prescription drugs affecting the trades performance and safety awareness. Marijuana or other illegal tobaccos, weapons of any kind, knives, etc., is strictly disallowed. Any tradesmen or any person suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs or in possession of any of the above will be required to be removed off site at the responsibility of the respective trade contractor. All personnel on site are to conduct themselves in a professional manner. Irrational behaviour will not be tolerated. All employees, authorized agents, direct and indirect suppliers and subcontractors to the trade contractor, including principals and financial officers of the companies, are bound by this Conduct Policy of the Project. meet the aforementioned conditions will be removed off site or removed from their involvement on the project at the request of Aecon and for which the trade contractor is obligated to comply. 43. All field work purchase orders, including work performed on a time and materials basis, must be submitted and signed on Aecons standard FWPO form. Tower cranes are provided and controlled by the formwork trade. Rental of such cranes for hoisting should be arranged directly with the formwork contractor. Similarly, all loading platforms are to be provided by this trade, as required, and coordinated with Aecon. Coordinate your work with the adjoining work of other trades.

2. Specific Scope of Work


1. Work Included The Scope of Work for this Subcontract includes, but is not limited to, the design, engineering, material, accessories, labour, tools, plant, equipment and transportation required to execute and complete the work as herein described. 1. At Aecons discretion Bonding may be required of the successful sub contractor on this Tender package. The extent of Bonding will be clarified by Aecon at a Post-Tender Meeting which will be subsequently arranged with the successful subcontractor. You are contractually bound by all the Specifications. However, you are to pay particular attention and include for all the work described in the following specifications sections: a) Section 00810 Supplementary Conditions b) Division 1 to 17 c) Section 02400 - Underpinning

This Subcontractor will be contractually bound by all the drawings and specifications as listed in Appendix G. This subcontract includes Addendums 1 through 6 inclusive. Apply, obtain and pay for all permits, licenses, inspections etc. as may be applicable to the work of this subcontract. Include for reinstatement of all waterproofing, if disturbed by this trade. Notify Aecon. Recognize that this project consists of several work phases. Allow for as many remobilizations on your part as may be required due to same.

Provide all necessary temporary shoring as required for all sawcutting operations. Such temporary shoring is to be designed by a registered professional engineer. Shop drawings detailing the temporary shoring are to be submitted for review and approval by the structural engineer prior to any sawcutting. Include for all measures necessary to maintain schedule such as, but not limited to additional manpower, equipment and hours of operation. One benchmark and one set of major intersecting grids will be supplied by Aecon. Provision of any layouts, lines or levels as may be required beyond same (i.e. towards the performance of this work) are to be provided by this subcontractor. Ensure that lifting equipment, scissor lifts, scaffolds, etc. come to the site as a pre-engineered system approved by a professional engineer licensed to practice in the Province of Ontario. In addition, include for any professional engineering fees to evaluate the suitability of the loading of the proposed equipment on the existing floor and building structural systems. This trade to submit loading requirements to Aecon for Project Structural Engineers approval, as required. This trade shall assume full responsibility for the protection and safekeeping of their products under this Contract stored on site. This contractor shall coordinate with Division 15 & 16 contractors to maintain existing services to existing facility. Regardless of any previous listing(s) as to the extent of the various Underpinning work/services your Company was prepared to provide on this project, do recognize that Aecon does require that the full extent of any and all Underpinning work/services as may be shown, depicted or required per the documents and specifications, will be required of you. Where disruption to the existing facility may occur in whole or in part due to the requirements of your work operations, you must first coordinate through Aecon such work requirements in timely fashion. Sufficient lead time must be afforded to Aecons supervisory personnel to forewarn and make any necessary arrangements with the University of Guelph prior to the commencement of such operations. Temporary weather protection required to facilitate work of this section Temporary plywood protection to adjacent buildings, as required. Leave unexcavated holes in safe condition upon removal of foundations, i.e. slope back side slopes to safe condition. Create structural separation between buildings as required. Demolish existing in a manner as not to cause damage to existing facilities. Provide engineering report complete with all necessary site inspections by engineer, as required. Repair any damage caused by underpinning activities which occur to existing structures to remain.

Provide cleaning of city and university streets caused by underpinning activities. Maintain protection to the public at all times. Maintain safety requirements throughout the work. Complete all underpinning work as per all jurisdictional codes and regulations legally to MOE approved locations, as required. Remove and dispose of existing concrete foundations and footings as required, including saw cutting. Provide all work as indicated on contract drawings and in specifications. Provide all hand excavation, forming, concrete supply, reinforcing steel (where required), grouting, backfilling and the required sequencing of pours for the work of this trade. Provide all equipment, hoisting, pumping and temporary support required for the execution of this work. Remove surface water run-in if required to facilitate the work. Include the site mobilizations as required for the scheduling of this work. Include for any chipping or foundation removal to facilitate the work of this trade.
