STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:This research will assist the management of the cellular companies in Pakistan to identify and situate the individuals who possess the personality traits that would bring job satisfaction to them in executing front desk jobs that would guide the organization in accomplishing the objective of attaining customer satisfaction.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES:-

The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of Front desk employees personality traits (conscientiousness, agreeableness, extraversion and emotional stability) on job satisfaction in the cellular industry of Pakistan.

LITERATURE REVIEW:Job satisfaction partially negotiates the relationship between personality traits and counterproductive behavior at work. The personality trait of Agreeableness was found to play a critical role in the prediction of behavior, as it had direct effects to interpersonal deviance and indirect effects to interpersonal and organizational deviance through its relationship to job satisfaction. Further, Conscientiousness was found to play a critical role in the prediction of organizational deviance, and its effect was primarily direct rather than indirect (Mount, Ilies and Johnson 2006). One of the studies predicts that Extraversion, and Conscientiousness display appreciable correlations with job satisfaction, and the factors that cause emotionally stable and extraverted individuals to be happy in life would also lead them to be happy in their jobs (Judge, Heller and Mount 2002). According to Judge et al. (1999), agreeable individuals would compromise their own job satisfaction to please others. According to Rust (1999), there has been a tendency within working populations to low Agreeableness (tough-mindedness), to correlate with high openness to experience. This is the result of the relationship between status and education. Extraversion is characterized by positive feelings and experiences and is therefore seen as positive affect (Clark & Watson, 1991). Furnham and Zacherl (1986) found a moderately positive relationship between extraversion and job satisfaction among senior staff members of a large computer firm. A possible explanation of this finding is that Extraversion is associated with positive affectivity (McCrae & Costa, 1995), which has been proposed as a core affective component of job satisfaction (George, 1992). The five-factor model is not based on a single theory of personality but incorporates a number of theoretical perspectives and has similarities with the prominent Myers- Briggs Type Indicator (McCrae and Costa, 1989). Hoffman and Ingram (1992) have summarized that social exchange theory proposes that individuals will engage in reciprocal behaviors and support those from whom they benefit. Thus, for employees who benefit extrinsically (pay) and intrinsically (other job facets) from taking care of customers, then customer-oriented behaviors can be expected.

Job satisfaction influences technical behavior. That is, when service employees are happy about their jobs, they are willing to put in extra effort and go the extra mile for their customer. Employees are more likely to deliver excellent service when the organization provides them with The resources, has an appropriate reward structure as well as customer-centric policies, procedures and practices that enhance their capability, and desire to deliver excellent service. (Mechinda and Patterson 2011).
