Climate Change
What is climate change? Climate change is any long-term change in the statistics of weather over periods of time that range from decades to millions of years. It can also be defined as a change in the mean weather conditions, the probability of extreme conditions, or in any other part of the statistical distribution of weather. Our Earths climate is dynamic and always changing through a natural cycle. However, in recent years, the changes that are 2ikoccurring have been speeded up due to humans activities. We can feel that our Earth are already much hottier as the temperature rise incessantly and rapidly. According to climatologists, the greenhouse gases people produce are making the Earth warmer besides periods of increased heat from the sun. Carbon dioxide is undoubtedly, the most important greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. Following by methane which is also another important greenhouse gas in the air. Nowadays, people start using machines to make their life easier, in the meantime, they begin altering the climate and environment. The mixture of gases in the atmosphere is continued to be affected by population growth, fossil fuels burning and deforestation. Fossil fuels such as coal and petroleum is required to run machines, vehicles, generate electricity for industries, households and so on. Burning these fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide which are greenhouse effect. Carbon dioxide increases constantly as trees that help to remove carbon dioxide from the air are being cut down too quickly. Because of climate changing, there are some effects that have a big impact on the Earth. First of all, there will be an increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide. Increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide

affects plant community structure and function as it affects how plants photosynthesise, resulting in increases in plant water use efficiency, enhanced photosynthetic capacity and increased growth. It can also lead to increased Carbon: Nitrogen ratios in the leaves of plants or in other aspects of leaf chemistry, possibly changing herbivore nutrition. Apart from that, temperatures will be increased due to changing of climate. Increases in temperature speed up the melting of glaciers and the Artic and Antartic ice caps. This adds more water to the ocean and resulting in rising sea levels. There are something we can do to stave off catastrophic climate change. First and foremost, we should stop cutting down trees. Every year, 33 million acres of forests are cut down and timber harvesting in the tropics done contributes 1.5 billion metric tons of carbon to the atmosphere. That will result in greenhouse gas emissions. We can avoid it by stop chopping down the trees and balancing the amount of wood taken out with the amount of new trees growing. Another solution for climate change is to move closer to work. Transportation is the second leading source of greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, we can try to curtail transportation fuel needs by moving closer to work, use mass transit, or swtch to walking, cycling or some other mode of transport that does not require anything other than human energy. In conclusion, we should do all the things as possible as to prevent the climate from getting worse and worse. The solution is in our hands. We must all work together. Only by acting together can we save our Earth.
