Capacity Building Trainer on Leadership Skills and Organizational Strategy Management

SUPERVISORS TITLE: Project Director COORDINATES WITH: CIFPEN and CHF Capacity Building Specialists, and Project Manager TRAINING SUBJECT: Leadership Skills and Organizational Strategy Management DUTY STATION: Hanoi Background CHF, a Canadian NGO with 50 years of experience in international development, has entered into a partnership agreement with the Center for Rural Communities Research and Development (CCRD) which is on behalf of Civil Society Inclusion in Food Security and Poverty Elimination Network (CIFPEN) for the purpose of working together on a Capacity Building Project. The project, funded through grant assistance from Irish Aids Civil Society Facility, is aimed at increasing the capacity of a number of Vietnamese organizations to effectively mobilize grassroots participation and deliver development programs and services targeting vulnerable groups such as ethnic minorities. By strengthening the organizational, programmatic and networking capacity of VNGOs, CHF and CIFPEN will enhance the role of civil society organizations in participatory democracy while improving the resilience and livelihoods of vulnerable communities. The project will take a learning-by-doing approach to capacity development by administering a sub-project fund aimed at providing opportunities to local organizations to apply their newly acquired skills for effective delivery of responsive sub-projects. Within the workplan year 2 the project will organise training on "Leadership skills and Organizational Strategy Management" for leader of VNGOs and pool of experts in order to continue building capacity to VNGOs under CIFPEN network. Scope of Work and Activities: - The Trainer will provide training on Leadership Skills and Organizational Strategy Management to CIFPEN and its members. - The Trainer will be expected to perform the following duties under the overall supervision of Project Director. He/ She will coordinate and cooperate with CIFPENs and CHFs Capacity Building Specialists and Project Manager. - Develop a participatory training program on leadership skills and organizational strategy management for building capacity for leaders, managers and pool of experts which was formulated in 2011 of local VNGOs

within CIFPEN. The training program has to be discussed and agreed with the supervisor and capacity building specialists. - Provide four day training program for CIFPEN and its members (25 people) in participatory and practical approaches to ensure that participants are able to absorb the knowledge sufficiently and apply into project management. - Write final training report which reflect results of the training, recommendations of participants and proposed follow up work plan for each VNGO members and CIFPEN. Expectations from the trainees are able to: - Understanding good Leadership Behaviours - Understand leadership and networking - Learning the difference between Leadership and Management - Gaining knowledge on organizational strategy management - Gaining insight into your Patterns, Beliefs and Rules - Defining Qualities and Strengths - Learning about Commitment and How to Move Things Forward - Making Key Decisions - Handling Your and Other People's Stress - Empowering, Motivating and Inspiring Others Essential Skills and Experience: 1. Masters degree (or equivalent experience) in a field related to development 2. Minimum seven (7) years of professional experience in a field related capacity building; 3. Proven skills in capacity building of local NGOs, with experience providing training on leadership skills and organizational strategy management; 4. Strong experience in, knowledge of and experience in applying participatory techniques and promoting gender equity; 5. Fluent in written and spoken Vietnamese and English.
