TYPE OF CODE AND BREAKDOWN LEVELS In consideration of the various requirements placed on the identification of plants, sections of plants and items of equipment in power stations, KKS has three different types of code: Process related code: Process related identification of systems and items of equipment according to their functions in mechanical, civil, electrical and control and instrumentation engineering. Point of installation code: Identification of points of installation of electrical and control and instrumentation devices in installation units (e.g., in cabinets, panels, consoles). Location code: Identification of locations in structures, on floors and in rooms and also of fire areas and topographical stipulations (surface area grid) These three types of code use the same identification scheme, which is subdivided into four breakdown levels. The titles of the breakdown levels of the three types of code will be follows: Serial no of breakdown level Process related identification Point of installation identification Location identification 0 1 2 3

PROCESS RELATED IDENTIFICATION The Identification Code is divided into different breakdown levels with different meanings, from right to left in diminishing order, starting from the Total Plant up to the component code which is described in. In this way, depending on the kind of level (Plant, system, Equipment, Component) complete or part of the identification code can be used. The structure of the identification code is the following:
Serial no of breakdown level Title of breakdown level Designation of data character Type data character 0 Total plant G A or N Designation of entire plant units F0 N Prefix number for system code 1 System code F1 F2 F3 AAA System classifying FN NN System numbering 2 Equipment code A1 A2 AA Equipment unit classifying A0 NNN Equipment unit numbering AN A Additional code 3 Component code B1 B2 AA Component classifying BN NN Component numbering

3.1

Level 0 (Total Plant) Level 0 represents the Plant Code. Plant code identifies power station units, non-unit specific plants and extensions. This level is represented by alphabet or a numeric. For the project, numeric designation is used as indicated below:

0 1 2 3 3.2

Common system for overall plant For Unit #1 For Unit #2 For Unit #3

Level 1 (System Code) It is divided in three parts: the first (F0) prefix number for system code, the second (F1, F2, F3) for the identification of the system main group, system group and system sub-group, the third (FN) for the identification of the system code numbering. Plant Unit Group (F0) If two or more identical systems are to be identified in an entire these are distinguished by means of prefix number (F0). Each plant unit prefix number only applies in the area of the system concerned and always relates to AAA digits (F1, F2. F3) following it. For e.g., 0 Common system for all units

If there are more than 9 units, then the designation for level 0 and level 1 shall be decided based on overall plant configuration including any expansion. FICHTNER INDIA

System main group, system group, system Sub group (F1 F2 F3) The first three alphabetical characters of this breakdown level are used to identify the system main group, system group and system sub group and are listed in the Attachment - 1. The structure of this field may vary its length starting from 1 character for the system main group, up to 3 characters for the system group or system sub group. In the case of the main system the fields concerning the missing character are filled with asterisk (*), e.g: the POWER TRANSMISSION AND AUXILIARY POWER SUPPLY is identified with the code B**, vice versa the STEAM TURBINE PLANT is identified with the code MA*.

System code numbering (FN). The last 2 digit numbers are system numbering. It is started from 01 to 99.

3.3

Level 2 (Equipment Code) It is divided in three parts: the first (A1 A2) part represents equipment code, the second (F1, F2, F3) part represents equipment number, the third (FN) part represents additional codes. Mechanical equipment group (A1 A2) The first two alphabetical characters (A1 A2) are used to identify equipment, circuits, etc. For the main groups of the Equipment Units shall be used the following codes: A B C D E F G H = = = = = = = = Mechanical equipment Drives Mechanical equipment Apparatus Direct measuring circuits Closed loop control circuits Signal processing of measured values Indirect measuring loops (measurement with special signal conditioning) Electrical equipment Sub-assemblies of main and heavy machinery

The codes for the secondary groups are defined in the Attachment 2. Mechanical equipment numbering (A0) Three numeric digits (A0) represent the Equipment Unit counting. Equipment numbering can be ranged from 001 to 999. Mechanical equipment additional code (AN) One alphabetical character (AN) represents the Equipment Unit counting for parallel units and redundancy units. It can be ranged from A to Z. 3.4 Level 3 (Component Code) This breakdown level identifies the pieces of the Equipment Unit (e.g. switches, pushbuttons, relays etc.); the code is made up by two alphanumeric characters and by two numeric digits.
