In April 2011, Carrier announced its Distinguished Sustainability Lecture Series for the Middle East in partnership with

the Higher Colleges of Technology in the United Arab Emirates. Throughout the series, Carrier will sponsor four international experts in the field of green buildings and sustainability to provide insights and trends for students, faculty and staff at the Higher Colleges of Technology and to network with building professionals in the region. The series initially focuses on the Middle East at the Higher Colleges of Technology, building on the areas growing sustainability activities. Distinguished Sustainability Lecture Series Education provides perhaps the best catalyst to advance sustainability and green buildings in the world. Carrier has been a leader in the green building movement from its earliest origins. Combining its roots in sustainability and commitment to education, Carrier created the Distinguished Sustainability Lecture Series to advance knowledge, learn from each other and stimulate a dialogue for a greener future.

Edwin Young is currently employed by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council as the Estidama Program Advisor, providing sustainable advice in policy and program implementation for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi Previously Edwin was a Director for a multi-national Consultancy Practice, leading teams in MEP Engineering in the Built Environment within London, UK

Scot Horst

As Senior Executive of the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Program, Scot Horst significantly influences the global course of sustainable design and building performance. Scot brings genuine expertise to helping the built environment intersect with natural systems. His professional experience includes the private and nonprofit sectors as president of both 7group, a leading green building consultancy, and Athena Institute International, a nonprofit dedicated to the lifecycle assessment of buildings. Before joining USGBC he chaired the LEED Steering Committee and championed the development of LEED v.3. He was awarded the USGBC Leadership Award for LEED in 2008. Scot sits on the board of the Sustainable Building Alliance in Paris, the Advisory Board of Cradle to Cradle, and the Buildings Retrofit and Finance Steering Committee of the World Economic Forum.

The Fourth Distinguished Sustainability Lecture comprising a roundtable discussion, led by Edwin Young and Scot Hurst , will be held on Wednesday 29th February 2012 from 4:00pm - 5.30pm at the CTI Auditorium, CERT Technology Park, Abu Dhabi. If coming from Dubai, As per Map Exit at Eastern Ring Road sign On the Eastern Ring Road continue along until you see the sign for Al Saada St. (The roads are numbered in odd sequence, Al Saada St is Street number 19) - after you turn left beneath the bridge into 19th Street (Al Saada St) at the next signal (Fourth Street) turn right and you will see the entrance to CERT approx 200 metres on your right follow directions below for Arrival at CERT Technology Park If in Abu Dhabi central, proceed south down Muroor Road (Fourth St) to Al Saada St (19th St) U Turn at signal. The entrance to CERT is 200 metres on your right - follow directions below. If arriving from Abu Dhabi Airport, leave airport and follow signs to Abu Dhabi via Khaleej Al Arabi St (30th St). At Khalifa bin Shakboot Street (28th St) veer off to your right and turn right at the intersection of Al Saada St (19th St ) which is the first signal you come to. Proceed along Al Saada Street , cross over 24th St and Airport road (2 sets of signals) until you get to Fourth Street (next signal) Turn left and CERT Technology Park is on your right. Follow directions below Arrival at CERT Technology Park Once you enter the car park look for the THALES Institute Building the CTI Auditorium is located in this Building.
