Profile
We are a company specialized in the manufacturing of forged blades for steam turbine and forged compressor blades for gas turbine, for the power generation market. We can produce a wide range of blades in terms of size, weight and finishing grade, from the envelope forged blades to those ready to fit. We are one of the few companies in the world able to produce machined blade forgings with overall length up to 1.500mm (59inch) and initial weight amounting up to 180kg (400lb). We have been working in this field since 1963 always looking for improvement and completion of the manufacturing process. The major equipments for the production are our drop forging hammers with respectively 50.000 kgm, 35.000 kgm and 12.500 kgm of power and our several high speed machining workstations. The products are manufactured in Maniago (Italy) and sold worldwide with Europe and Asia as the key markets. COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES: * Power Generation market presence for over 45 years. * Consolidated expertise in the forging of turbine blades with overall length up to 1.500mm (59inch) and initial weight amounting up to 180kg (400lb). * Complete range of stainless steel blades. * Ready to fit products. * Integration with key-customers in the product definition.

History
C*Blade S.p.a. was born from the merger by acquisition of two companies: Campolin & Beltrame S.p.a. and ISTAL S.r.l. both situated in Maniago (Pordenone) Italy. Our activity started in 1963 with the forging of steel products. A few years later the company entered the power generation market with the production of forged turbine blades. At that time machine tools with specific technologies didnt exist. The blades were manufactured through precision forging with difficult manual preforming and hot forging phases and with a great manual work of control, straightening and grinding between the production phases. Turbine blades are nowadays manufactured through preforming in a 4-axis automatic preforming line and envelope forging in our powerful hammers. The forged pieces are then heat treated/straightened and then machined in our CNC workcenters. The finishing is carried out with automatic grinding on the airfoils and manual grinding for the root platforms and tip. Numerous quality controls follow all the process to ensure a uniform blade production quality. After more than 45 years of experience, C*Blade is recognized as a leader in the production of forged turbine blades and supplies all the major OEMs, worldwide.

Know How
From the drawing to the finished blade, each step is carried out inside our company thanks to the knowledge of our technicians and a high qualified process. We are able to design the die and produce any kind of turbine blade starting from the 3D model or the drawings. In order to do so, we also use a FEM system for the simulation of hot plastic deformation of materials in closed die forging. We are able to provide simulation of material flow and precise prediction of all kinds of flow induced defects. The defects and grain-flow as well as temperature, strain and fracture factor can be tracked in order to optimize the forging process. We also produce by ourselves the CAM programs required for the milling of the blade in our CNC machines and design any fixing and checking tool required for the manufacturing of the blade, including control programs used in our CMMs.

Equipment
MAIN EQUIPMENT * Hot preforming hydraulic press with 4 axis control * Hammers: 50.000 kgm, 35.000 kgm, 12.500 kgm * Water jet robotized cutting system * Heat treatment furnaces * CNC machines with 3, 4, 5 and 6 axis (20 spindles) * Metabo CNC polishing machines * Coordinate Measuring Machines - CMMs * Vibration and momentum measurement stations Efficient equipment is the key for performance. Continuous investments demonstrate our commitment for good quality and delivery performance. Accurate planning and respect of maintenance schedule are firm points to guarantee an high level of productivity.

Quality controls
Highly qualified technicians are able to perform a wide range of controls in compliance with the most rigorous international standards. The mechanical properties are investigated through tensile tests, Charpy impact tests and Brinell hardness tests. Complete metallographic examinations are performed in order to determine grain size, non-metallic inclusions content and delta ferrite content. Vickers micro-hardness tests are used for surface decarburation inspection. The final product can be subjected to non-destructive tests such as magnetic particle, ultrasonic and dye penetrant examinations. C*Blade is able to deliver ready to fit blades on which are performed vibration tests and weight moment balancing.
