5 Procedures for MGW Registration

HUAWEI CSOFTX3000 Service Procedures

5.1 Procedure for MGW Registration

When a media gateway (MGW) is in service for the first time or restarted, it must be registered with the corresponding MSC Server. After the registration succeeds, the MGW can report the terminations that are available currently to the MSC Server at once. The MSC Server can also obtain the information of the available physical terminals on the MGW using the audit command. Figure 5-1 shows the procedure for the MDW registration, Figure 5-1 Procedure for MGW registration

2.Service Change_Reply

1.

When an MGW is in service for the first time or restarted, it sends a ServiceChange message to the MSC Server to which it belongs to request registration. The message contains the following descriptors: ServiceChangeMethod (such as "Restart") address ServiceChangeReason

2.

The MSC Server authenticates the MGW and returns a ServiceChange_Reply message (containing address) to accept the registration. If the MSC Server rejects the registration (The reason may be that the version is inconsistent or that the MGW is not controlled by the MSC Server.), it sends the ServiceChange_Reply message (containing ServiceChangeReason) to the MGW.

5.2 Procedure for MGW Deregistration

Before the MGW stops the service, it must be deregistered with the corresponding MSC Server. After the deregistration succeeds, the MGW is out of service. To activate it, register it again. The messages used for the deregistration procedure are the same as that used for the registration procedure. The descriptors used, however, are different, as shown in Figure 5-2.
