YOUR COMMON GOOD ASSETS – DISCOVER THE FACTS FOR

YOURSELF

BURGHS (Royal Burghs, Burghs of Barony) are now included within the 32 Scottish
Councils.

Councils listed below do not appear to record, for audit, any common good heritable
assets. It is inferred they also failed to record moveable assets. Based on their assets
(past and present) they should have both heritable and moveable common good
assets, which must be shown separately from other assets and be properly recorded
and insured. Common good assets should be identified as such, distinct from the
general body of assets under Council control.

paid into a separate ‘common good fund’. Each Scottish Council is responsible for
this stewardship. Each elected Councillor becomes a TRUSTEE on election.

REMEMBER THAT

Common Good Funds consist of heritable and moveable assets and finance.

in an asset register, INSURED, AUDITED annually, all SEPARATELY from other
Council Assets. Any SALES must be recorded and the proceeds paid into a separate
Common good FUND.
