CHAPLAINS CORNER
Dear Guardian of Mary Dear Nurse of her Child These beautiful words of a hymn to St. Joseph that was popular before you were born, remind us as Knights of Columbus that St. Joseph is an excellent model for us as Catholic gentlemen. St. Joseph was a quiet, humble, gentle person who is famous for his love for Jesus and His Mother Mary. Joseph devoted his entire life to the service of Christ and His Church. Just as St. Joseph spent several anxious days searching for Jesus, whom he found in the Temple, we as Christians have dedicated our lives to the search for Christ whom we find every Sunday at Mass and Holy Communion in our parish churches. We have heeded Christs invitation to follow Him and proclaim publically our faith in Him, as St. Joseph listened to the voice of God and married Our Lady and took her and Jesus to safety in Egypt. He spent his entire life working to support Our Lady and her Son.

for all Canadians as all of us or our families have come to Canada in search of a happier, safer and more comfortable life. St. Joseph emigrated with the Holy Family to Egypt in search of safety for his family. Moreover, St. Joseph should be a special model and patron for all Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. If you have ever been to the Holy Land, you know its a long walk from Nazareth in Galilee to Bethlehem in Judea. St. Joseph made that long and difficult journey with his pregnant wife Mary in order to show his loyalty to his identification with and his pride in his people by registering with his people with the census authorities. Hence we Knights of Columbus should show special love and devotion and honour to St. Joseph this March 19 as he is the patron saint of husbands, fathers, families, a happy and holy death, the patron saint of Canada, of our Catholic Church and so a special patron saint for us Knights of Columbus.

In his 1989 apostolic letter Guardian of the Redeemer Blessed Pope John Paul II, held us St. Joseph as a model of the Christian life for all believers. Religion was important to St. Joseph and so he He wrote St. Josephs example transcends all individbrought Jesus and Mary to the temple in Jerusalem to ual states of life and serves as a model for the entire dedicate himself and his family to the service of God. All Josephs life Happy St. Josephs Day! was devoted to serving and working hard for his family. Married life was his vocation and he spent all his days and energies protecting and working for his loved ones. Rev. L.D. Burns, C.S.B. St. Joseph is thus a model for all working men as he laboured long and hard to support his family. As a carpenter and thus a small businessman, Joseph is a model and patron for all businessmen. St. Joseph is also a special patron and model Chaplain, Kingsway Council

It was also nice to see our Past Grand Knight, Denis Tisdel, come out and help, along with all the other busy Brother Knights who showed up. It was a great turnout, one of the best I have seen in a long time. Many thanks to each of you for making the day a success. A number of upcoming events need mentioned for those of you who were not at our last meeting. We are once again going to be selling cases of Certified Angus Beef striploin steaks to raise money for the Hope for Children Foundation. The price is the same as last year, $60 per case, and each case will contain ten 8 oz. steaks. That means you will be getting a mouthwatering, tender steak at a unit cost of only 6 dollars! Most of the proceeds will be going to Hope for Children, but our council will also get some of the proceeds which will go into our charity account. We must have our orders in no later than March 30th, and expected delivery will be May 26th. Start selling now and let me know how many cases you want. April is going to be busy for us, and I would like to invite anyone that can help with any of the events to get in touch with me and let me know which event or events you can help with. April 14th: Garage Sale at Holy Angels. We are cooking hot dogs and sausages. All proceeds to our council. April 21/22: Rose Sunday at St. Clements Church. Proceeds to support Right to Life programs in Toronto open event for the community. Set this night aside and bring your wife or significant other, enjoy some good food, dancing, and help us help St. Francis Table. In May, the Hope for Children committee is also organizing a dinner theatre event at Famous People Players on Evans Avenue. It is planned for May 12th, the day before Mothers Day. Cost is $75 which includes your meal, and the performance by the Famous People Players. It is well worth the price, and what a wonderful way to show your wife or mother (or both) how much you appreciate them. Let us all remember at this time the love that Christ showed us by the sacrifice He made for us. Let us also be proud that the sacrifices we make as Knights of Columbus are helping to bring Christs message of love and servitude out into our community. I can always be contacted at paulbryce63@yahoo.ca or 416-799-0445. Vivat Jesus Paul Bryce Grand Knight
