Dear Families: On Tuesday we all were edified by Fr. Paul Donlans homily in which he explained the Gospel reading more clearly. He pointed out that when Jesus taught us to pray, giving us the Lords Prayer, he follows it with a commentary the first of countless commentaries on the Our Father. Of the seven petitions, what does the Lord choose to comment upon? Which one did Jesus hold as worthy of extra attention, as that important? Only the petition with regard to forgiveness: 14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; 15 but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. [Matthew, Chapter 6] So, Father continues, we must take this admonition very seriously. Especially during Lent a perfect time to focus on tuning up our spiritual life. We must forgive! We need to dig deep into ourselves, into our hearts and find that little black book of grudges, resentments, etc. Whom am I holding something against? Whom am I resenting? Whom am I not forgiving? And begin at home! Charity always begins at home. A resentment perhaps, an unforgiveness toward your father or mother, for sibling older or younger, a teacher, a coach, what have you. Give it up! GIVE IT UP!! It is not worthwhile carrying it around with you, (destroying you, ) inside the soul. You do not want to have that. That is something you want to be delivered from. Deliver us from the evil of unforgiveness! Deliver us from the evil of resentment! And, so it is with us. Though Father was speaking principally to the children, recall that we are ALL children of God. Father is also speaking to me and you with respect to our children, our co-workers, our friends and spouses. So, speaking of giving up things for Lent, let us do as Father and Jesus teach, and give it up!

GOLF-A-THON 2012
February 21, 2012 Dear St. Augustine Family, Thank you for taking time to learn about helping the school by promoting advertising in our Golf-A-Thon program. Every family probably knows a few potential advertisers. These could be acquaintances or businesses that you frequent. Maybe the advertisers in your parishs Sunday church bulletin? Dont be afraid to ask, and remember, advertising dollars will go toward your fundraising requirement.

Why should a business consider advertising? 1. 2. 3. Great exposure for the business in our Golf-A-Thon program Advertisers will also be acknowledged on our school website They are helping our wonderful students and school!

How this works: 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. The Golf-A-Thon is April 23, 2012. We are selling space in the event program for business card advertising. The cost is $150 per business card ad. You fill out the form and attach the business card and check. Turn into the office by Monday, April 2nd. Businesses can also mail the form and check directly to the school, but make sure you put your name on the form so you get credit. Advertisers will receive a thank you letter by mail.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at 805.302.3125 or email me at pnp@slaga.com. Regards, Peter Slaga
