Press Release High Powered Firearms Recovered in NPA Arms cache

LUPON, DAVAO ORIENTAL Five high-powered firearms, 2 improvised explosives with accessories from NPA arms cache were recovered by Charlie Company, 28th Infantry Battalion on March 19, 2012 in Purok Catumbal, Brgy Maragatas, Lupon, Davao Oriental on March 19, 2012. A certain alyas Badong, name undisclosed for security reason, who revealed to the existence of the recovered arms cache, voluntarily turned himself in to Hon Domingo A Lim, Mayor of Lupon, as facilitated by Charlie Coy, 28IB and Lupon Municipal Police Station (MPS). Badong, accompanied by his wife, revealed on his initial interview that he voluntarily sought assistance to Peace and Development Team (PDT) under 1Lt. Geoffrey Galanida, commander of Charlie Coy, 28IB informing the latter that armed cache was buried nearby his house. The incident was documented at Lupon Municipal Police Station, and his wife was accompanied to Municipal Health Center for physical and medical check-up. Food water and necessary living accommodations were also given to the couple. The 28IB under Lt. Col. Leopoldo Imbang Jr. organized his troops to verify the revelation of Badong. The team led by 1Lt. Galanida, accompanied by a team of Camaruyan CAA Patrol, recovered one AR18 Rifle, three Garand Rifles, one Caliber .45 Pistol, one homemade shotgun, two IED (Cap 2), several ammunitions for different firearms and bomb components to produce IEDs. Badong further revealed that DUNGKOR (who surrendered to Mayor Sara Duterte two weeks ago) ordered him to bury the said firearms of SYP, GF18, SMRC sometime in November 2011. I attended the Pulong-Pulong of 28IB and heard that alyas TOPER and alyas DUNGKOR already surrendered; from there, I decided to surrender and reveal said arms cache to the PDT of 28IB in my barangay, Badong narrated. To note, 24 leaders and members who returned to the folds of the law received P1.2M worth of checks for their livelihood project from the National Government through OPAPPPayapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) last week at the Davao Oriental Capitol.
