Other details

The Heliodisplay is a fog display developed by IO2 Technology. A projector is focused onto layers of air and micro-spheres in mid-air, resulting in a two-dimensional display that appears to float. This is similar in principle to the cinematic technique of rear projection and can appear three-dimensional when using appropriate content. As dark areas of the image may appear invisible, the image may be more realistic than on a projection screen, although it is still not volumetric. Looking directly at the display, one would also be looking into the projector's light source. The necessity of an oblique viewing angle (to avoid looking into the projector's light source) may be a disadvantage.

What is Fog Display?

A fog display or fog screen is a system that uses haze machines to create a semi-transparent wall, or "curtain" of suspended particles which are illuminated by a projector, in order to produce a display whose images seem to float in mid air.

What is Haze machine?

Haze machines, or haze generators (commonly referred to as hazers), are effects machines similar to fog machines, designed to produce an unobtrusive, homogeneous clouds suspended in the air intended primarily to make light beams visible or create a subtle diffusion.

How it works?
Heliodisplay can work as a free-space touchscreen when connected to a PC by a USB cable. A PC sees the Heliodisplay as a pointing device, like a mouse. With the supplied software installed, one can use a finger, pen, or another object as cursor control and navigate or interact with simple content. The air-based system is formed by a series of metal plates, and the original Heliodisplay could run for several hours although current models can operate continuously.

2008 model Heliodisplays use

80 ml to 120 ml of water per hour, depending on screen size and user settings, although the medium is primarily air. OR

1. Air is drawn in a thermodynamic process creates a cloud of microscopic particles. 2. Cloud of microscopic particles is ejected 3. Digital projector unit illuminates the particle cloud, creating a visible image. 4. Viewers hand, tracked by a laser, manipulates the image 5. Particle cloud breaks down as air returns to its original state.

Max image measures 102 inches (259 cm) diagonally: 80 inches (200 cm) tall and 60 inches (150 cm) wide. Project live video feed or pre-recorded. The projection unit has a standard video input No special programming is required; connect with a standard video cable as with any display. Heliodisplay is part of a complete two-piece solution (cylinder and projection unit). Projection module (included) is located 1.8m or greater distance from the base unit in a rear projection setup (substitute lens will not function properly) Each L90 weighs approximately 70lbs or 31kg and can be setup by one person by placing the unit on the floor, plugging in the power cord, and turning the on button. The L90 sits on the ground as a vertical column, or horizontally within a desk. No trusswork or hanging necessary Images can be seen 180 degrees from the front or by providing an extra projection module can be seen from both sides-360 degrees.

L90 is a free-space virtual display. The L90i is a free-space virtual display with virtual air-touch control. (L90i Requires a PC and USB--just as you connect a mouse or any touchscreen) * L90i ("i" interactive model) allow "air" touchscreen interactivity just as you would with any touchscreen, but in mid-air. (XP PC with USB required) * Press the power button, connect the video source, and you will see images in air (some content is better than others). * (Optional) Connect the Heliodisplay to any video output, or insert an optional CF (CompactFlash) card with AVI or JPEG files into the Heliodispay, and project in mid-air. * The L90 sits on the ground as a vertical column, or horizontally within a desk. No trusswork or hanging necessary * Heliodisplay uses air to project into air, no fogs, special liquids or chemical are used. * Heliodisplays carries with it a 3 year comprehensive limited parts/labor warranty. * Eco-friendly (280 watts) power consumption. * Worldwide shipping times are 2-3 days for priority, and up to a week for economy shipping.
