My Magazine Proposal After all my research I have decided on all of my magazine text and images I plan to use.

I have also decided on my audience demographic and the music genre I am going to cover. The title of my magazine is MICROPHONE. I have chosen this magazine title as it reflects pop music perfectly and is immediately relatable to music. The title can also be worked with in different ways so that I could even use an actual photograph on a microphone for the I in my title. After doing my magazine questionnaire and researching in to the types of magazines there is being published already, I have seen that pop music is the genre that is missing. The publishers that I researched dont have pop magazines being currently published and when I did my primary research the females I interviewed all wanted to see more all female artist magazines. The artists that both genders I interviewed liked the most was the mainstream pop acts Rihanna and Olly Murrs, and therefore from my results these seemed the most successful magazines to publish, The target audience I have chosen is females aged 16 21, which is the age range I chose to send my questionnaires to. I also have more information about what this target audience likes and dislikes due to the fact that the female results were more defined than the males. As they are young females, they wont be earning as much money as older generations so therefore I will be aiming my magazine at the C2, D social classes, so they will be able to afford my magazine. There is no specific race or culture my magazine is aimed at as it will include different race artists. It will also be aimed at all sexualities but due to the hot men that usually feature in pop music, it will most likely be targeted at straight females. In my previous research I have also defined what I am going to use on my cover such as article coverlines and photographs. Due to my magazine analysis I know that I need a title, strapline, coverline, barcode, issue number, date, original images and sometimes graphical headers and or footers. For my magazine I will use a well known pop star in a medium close up/close up shot following magazine conventions. I will also use my own title MICROPHONE filling the top sixth of my cover. I will also get a barcode, date and issue number again following the popular conventions of a music magazine. I will use the colours pink and black as these were the most popular colours females in my questionnaire chose, they are also very girly colours and therefore follow the femininity of the magazine. The coverlines will be in pink with the straplines in black. The coverlines I have chosen are: Amy Dodds (my main artists name), summer 2012 hot new tunes, Becky Blay (other cover artist backstage scenes) and vote for your favourite artist. These coverlines have been chosen from the results I have gained from my focus group and questionnaires and are also relevant to a music magazine. Becky Blay my second major article on my front cover will also have a photograph to anchor the text and to show her in behind the scenes action.

My original ideas for my magazine contents have been inspired by NMEs own contents. I wish to split my page in to thirds such as theirs, with an editors note and sub headings to separate my pages in to categories. I plan to have the same colours on my contents as were on my front page black and pink. I will also have three images on my contents page other than the photograph of my editor in the centre (such as the conventions of a music magazine) and will anchor my images with page numbers in the top corners. I will have three images of different artists in my contents page in a variety of shots and hopefully with a musical instrument in at least one of those to further highlight the music magazine genre. I will have the date under the title to show what issue it is such as a normal convention of a music magazine. I have also taken inspiration from the Lily Allen double page spread in NME. I plan to have one photograph taking up the space of a whole page in my double page spread in which it will be a medium close up or close up to show the artists emotion in the interview. I will also have a quote from the article as a title and also have a pull quote dotted somewhere on the double page spread therefore following another convention of a music magazine. I will need to use a byline and a standfirst to begin my article and a dropcap at the start to again follow the common conventions of a magazine. I intend to continue with the black and pink theme and have a footer in which my page numbers will be placed on. Unlike NME magazine I am going to use two photographs on my double page spread and one in the middle of my text with a caption to explain what is happening in the image. This image will hopefully be of AMY in the studio with studio gear, singing.
