http://www.caldycricketclub.co.uk/ 19th March 2012 Dear Club Members/Friends of Caldy CC, After a long winter of indoor cricket and well attended training sessions at Birkenhead School, we are now only a matter of weeks away from the first game of the 2012 season and I for one cannot wait to get back out on the field. The first outdoor 1st/2nd Team training session will be on Wednesday 4th April 2012 (starting 6.30pm prompt) and will again be run by our highly qualified and respected coach. These will continue every Wednesday until the end of the season. I have arranged for a pre-season friendly against Birkenhead Park CC (45overs) on Saturday 7th April 2012, if you would like to be considered for this match, please let me know ASAP. I can confirm that our overseas player for this year will be that of a young up and coming Australian Opening Batsman/Leg-Spinner who will hopefully be with us a week before our first league game. I would also like to welcome to the club Paul Kearney, a stubborn but hard hitting batsman from Upton CC. I also hope to be in a position to announce a couple more new signings before the start of the season very shortly. This season the 1st Team will be competing in the following cup competitions: The Cheshire Cup, LDCC Knockout Trophy, LDCC T20 Cup, Liverpool Echo T20 Cup and I have entered a team into the Last Man Stands League. As well as the four senior sides on a Saturday, there will also be a number of Sunday fixtures against local and touring clubs. We also have entered a team into the Bristol 6s Tournament; a mini-tour in Bristol in July. Further details available are available on the club website or contact myself or Stewart Pilley. As a club, we are fully committed to the development of junior cricket. This season will running junior teams at U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17 levels and we will also have a U16 and a U20 teams entered into LDCC Cup Competitions. For more information, please refer to the Caldy Cougar section of our website. This coming year is going to be dedicated to vastly improving our infrastructure and in particular a brand new dedicated netting/training area. Purely for this project, we need to raise at least 10k with the shortfall been made up through various grants and ECB loans. So, we will be looking to all members (past and present), friends, family, local businesses etc to help out throughout the year. There will be numerous fund raising events throughout the season and sponsorship is of a paramount importance. Please keep regularly checking the website for notices of coming events, your support for these is vital to our cause. Also, we are again running the ever popular Fantasy Cricket League. Please get involved, its good fun and provides plenty of banter in the clubhouse, again see website for details.

I strongly encourage everyone to sound out their bosses, local firms/business, family/friends etc with regards to raising any form of sponsorship, donations or even match day ball sponsorship. If anyone has any ideas for sponsorship or fundraising events, please do not hesitate to contact myself or any member of your committee. If you require any advice on what we can offer as a club for sponsorship, again please do not hesitate to contact myself or any member of the committee. Senior playing subscriptions has yet again been kept at 120 for this current season and we would appreciate prompt payment, we had an excellent response from players last season and the earlier we get the money the better for the club, so please pay as soon as possible. Junior subs will be communicated directly. Subscription and membership forms can be found with this letter or downloaded from our website. Please note a few dates for your diary (also, please keep checking the club website regularly for further events): Sunday 1st April 2012, 11.00am Junior Registration/NatWest Cricket Force Day Junior registration will take place at 11am for all age groups. It is also NatWest Cricket Force day, which all members, family and friends are strongly encouraged to attend. We will be undertaking various small projects in and around the club to enable us to improve and upgrade our facilities for us all. We have secured 500 funding for this event from The Build Centre/ECB and all volunteers will receive a free Comemerative t-shirt on the day.

As previously mentioned, we still have the agreement in place with Tyler Sports for Caldy CC Sportswear. We are now into our third season with Tylers and again we have added several new lines for this year. Please feel free to contact Dan Hargreaves or just visit their website via the link on Caldy CC website. Every item purchased through Tyler Sports will also benefit Caldy CC as we have a rebate system in place, so another good reason to get ordering! Finally, the club does not run itself and we heavily rely on big efforts from each and every one of you, so please join in and help out as much as possible. Every little really does help. I would personally like to wish each and every member of Caldy CC a very successful and hugely enjoyable season and I expect to see you all back in the bar after every game taking the preverbal out of each other.
