COURSE DESCRIPTION The student teacher will be equipped with the theoretical base to understand the various services that are integral to the functioning of a building. It will provide hands-on experience in making minor water and electrical connections for domestic use. It would also give insight into various technical engineering occupations and their function in making a building environment comfortable and healthy for habitation.

COURSE OBJECTIVES At the end of this course students should:

2 1. Know about factors that affect comfort in a building environment 2. Know water collection and distribution systems for domestic and commercial buildings 3. Solve simple problems involving water pressure, sizing of pipes and sewer systems, and heating and cooling calculations 4. Understand sewage disposal methods and their environmental impact thorough controlled site visits 5. Understand interrelated electrical and mechanical services 6. Determine electricity requirement for simple electrical lighting needs

COURSE CONTENT AND OVERVIEW

4.1

UNIT ONE: Water Supply

Knowledge Outcomes
Explain water collection, and distribution for end use Describe internal water supply systems. Explain the importance of water pressure and water heating systems

Explain the reason for adequately preparing the site for construction.
