The latest release of Blaze Advisor business rules management software allows greater control and security for team-based development and maintenance of business rule projects, new options for building trees as part of a decision process, and integration with Fair Isaac modeling software. It also simplifies and speeds customization of web-based rule maintenance screens to match a companys preferred user interface conventions.
Decision Trees are one of the new features added to Fair Isaac Blaze Advisor 5.0. Chains of dependent rules are easy to define, manage, and visualize using this graphical editor.

Second-Generation Repository Blaze Advisor 5.0 features a new underlying repository for all elements of a rule project. The repository allows extended flexibility in implementing services for persistence, versioning, and authentication/ authorization. Fair Isaac provides default services and interfaces for configuring your own services to fit your companys operational environment. Versioning The Blaze Versioning Service (BVS) has been added to release 5.0 to track changes to entities in the repository. Rule instances, instance files, templates, and projects can all be versioned with full access to past versions and summary views of change history. BVS works with file-based, database, and LDAP persistence methods. Versioning is available for changes made by business users through webbased rule maintenance applications. Authorized users can view past versions of rules and other entities and reinstate them to current working status. Blaze Advisor automatically captures information on date, time, author, and descriptive comments for every version that is saved in the repository. Alternate versions of rules and other entities may be viewed in multiple windows to allow easy comparison of changes that have been made over time. Check-in/Check-out The new versioning system lets companies facilitate team development and maintenance by adding check-in and check-out of project components. Checked-out items may be viewed but not updated by other users. Check-out can be left to the discretion of the user, for use only when making changes, or it can be made implicit, automatically invoking edit mode and creating a new version when users work with a project entity.
Dynamic RMA Companies that produce web-based rule maintenance applications (RMAs) can now make incremental changes to their customized screens more quickly and easily. Once an RMA is generated in Blaze Advisor, changes made to underlying display templates in the development environment are automatically reflected in the RMA with a simple browser refresh. No regeneration is necessary. Customizations of icons, graphics, and other user interface features are maintained as templates are altered, leading to easier iterative development cycles and faster page compilation. Deployment and Integration Release 5.0 adds support for IBM WebSphere 5.0, Sun ONE Application Server 7, and more object model integration features for working with XML schemas. Documentation As with every release, Blaze Advisor 5.0 has been updated to reflect all functional changes in the product documentation. New tutorials, demonstrations, examples, and help entries have been added, as well as special how to documentation that demonstrates the use of Blaze Advisor interfaces for logging and auditing rule execution. Regulatory Compliance Fair Isaac Blaze Advisor plays an important role in meeting regulatory compliance standards such as Basel II, Sarbanes-Oxley, Patriot and other industry-specific regulations. Fair Isaac Blaze Advisor delivers a unique combination of business rules for enforcement and analytic models for portfolio segmentation, risk and default prediction. Fair Isaac Blaze Advisor is part of the Fair Isaac Business Science suite of enterprise decision management tools.
