SkyDox Announced as a Finalist in the European Software Excellence Awards

London, 27 March 2012 - SkyDox, a leading provider of a cloud-enabled file sharing, file synchronization, and collaboration platform for cross-functional and distributed teams, has been announced as a finalist in the IT Europa European Software Excellence Awards in the SaaS Enterprise Solution category. The European Software Excellence Awards are the only pan-European awards that recognize the crucial role that Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) play in the delivery of real world solutions, attracting entries from 18 countries. Each entry requires the ISVs to describe their nominating solution and provide a client/customer endorsement. Thirty-six companies from 14 countries were selected by an independent panel of consultants and editors. SkyDox was recognized for its work with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), which uses SkyDoxs technology to enhance its existing Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft FAST document search and sharing platform. With a database of over 90,000 legal documents and five million website visitors a year, the ECHR was facing a daunting document management challenge before implementing SkyDox. Required under convention (Article 44 3) to make judgements and rulings public as soon theyre announced, the organizations original back-end architecture lacked the functionality required to dynamically share judgment documentation with over 800 million inhabitants in 47 member states of the European Union. SkyDox built an intuitive user interface that integrated with Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft FAST, providing a document-sharing and dissemination channel, which is currently hosted on the ECHR website. Beyond these original requirements, SkyDox was also able to further enhance the solution by providing a built-in automated document metadata tagging system, making search infinitely easier and relevant for users. Capabilities are also being built to allow users to further refine their searches by name, member state, or specific legal terms. In addition, the platform alerts users via RSS feeds when new, related documents become available. SkyDox was chosen after an 18-month vendor selection process which included most of the large software and SI partner organizations you would associate with an enterprise implementation.
