WELCOME TO THE ELITE EIGHT

It has been quite a battle thus far in the Sickest Movie Weapon Tournament. There have been upsets, buzzer beaters, comebacks, blowouts, and tears of joy and despair. We have seen some up and coming stars and some old veterans, looking to make one last go round. Making up the Elite Eight we have three of the one-seeds still playing, including no. 1 overall Jackie Chan. Arnolds Rail Gun in Eraser was unfortunatly upset in the Sweet 16 plucky five-seed Thermal Detonator from Star Wars. All of the two-seeds and four-seeds have been eliminated, including perennial favorite, Dirty Harrys .44 Magnum and popular sleeper, Chuck Norris Fists. Also remaining are two six-seeds in Tony Montanas Little Friend and Christian Bales AK-47 from Rescue Dawn. The other high ranked weapon remaining is three-seed The One from The Matrix films. Finally in the Predator Regional we have a big mid-major match-up between Thermal Detonator and surprising seven-seed Sticky Bomb from Stephen Spielbergs Saving Private Ryan! Die Hard Regional

(1) Jackie Chan
Many thought the number one overall seed, Jackie Chan would have a cake walk into the final four. However, Chan encountered some stiff competition in the sweet 16. Chan is a unique weapon. He has mastered hand to hand combat in many films while also having an affable, family-friendly side. Defeated (16) Blow Dart, (8) Bull Whip, and (4) Noisy Cricket to advance to the round of eight.

(6) M16 My Little Friend

A surprise Elite Eight appearance for Tony Montanas best buddy. In Scarface, Al Pacinos character uses an M-16 Assault Rifle with a M204 40mm Grenade Launcher attachment. Universally known as My Little Friend. Defeated (11) Exploding Pen, (3) Flame Thrower, and (2) Golden Gun to advance to the round of eight.

Rocky Regional
(1) Light Saber
Very few are surprised to see this favorite arrive in the Elite Eight The Light Saber is the weapon of the Jedi. A contained laser, capable of slicing through almost anything in the galaxy, it is hard to imagine a weapon that can defeat it. Well, unless you are Han Solo. Defeated (16) Credit Card, (9) Bow & Arrow, and (4) Chuck Norris Fists to advance to the round of eight.

(3) The One

The One was an interesting pick here because it is not a common object. In the Matrix, Keanu Reeves plays Neo. He is a computer hacker who finds out his true powers and uses them to try and free the human race from machines. Defeated (14) Cleaver, (11) Machete, and (7) Gloved Gun Punch to advance to the round of eight.

The Dirty Dozen Regional

(1) VX Gas Rocket
The weapon that actually drove Nic Cage insane may have the clearest path to the Final Four To quote Gen. Patterson: One teaspoon of this hits the floor, it's lethal up to a hundred feet. One teaspoon of this shit detonated in the atmosphere. It will kill every living organism in an eight-block radius. Get the point? Defeated (16) Screwdriver, (8) Claws, and (5) Hatchet to advance to the round of eight.

(6) AK-47
Has to be the biggest surprise of the tournament. Seems like too common a gun to make it this far, but old reliable may get the last laugh. The AK-47 is used in many films, but specifically by Christian Bale in the badass movie, Rescue Dawn. Defeated (11) Tommy Gun, (14) Phonebook, and (2) .44 Magnum to advance to the round of eight.

Predator Regional
(5) Thermal Detonator
Our second Star Wars entrant to the final eight has already taken down a number 1. The dreaded futuristic grenade is a huge hit with George Lucas fanboys. It shocked all of us by taking down Shwarzeneggers Rail Gun in the Sweet Sixteen and may have the best chance of toppling the other one-seeds. Defeated (12) Oxygen Tank, (13) Tsai, and (1) Rail Gun to advance to the round of eight.

(7) Sticky Bomb

This improvised device has taken down the big boys already and now has a chance to shock the world with a Final Four trip. In Saving Pvt. Ryan, we have one of the only Oscar worthy teams in the bracket. That may mean something to the sophisticated voters. Defeated (10) Throwing Knives, (2) Chainsaw, and (3) BFG to advance to the round of eight.
