GO GREEN WITH GLASS

What is Glass?

A hard, brittle, substance produced by heating silica sand, soda and lime.

Who is G3 and what do they do?

Who is G3?
G3 has been an innovator in using recycled glass since the early 90s.

What does G3 do?

G3 works closely with Waste Management to provide a eco-friendly product that can replace aggregates from 3/8 inch to its natural form of sand. We have been supplying recycled glass for government and commercial contractors to individual home owners looking to cut their costs up to 50%.

What can glass be used for?

When glass is crushed and screened to pass the 3/8-in. (9.5-mm) screen, it closely resembles crushed natural aggregate and has engineering properties similar to natural aggregate materials.*

G3 supplies recycled glass for the following: uses:

Utility bedding and backfill Structural fill Nonstructural fill Retaining wall backfill All drainage purposes All non structural concrete applications Road beds (Glassphalt) Leachate collection media for landfill use Landfill cover Pipe underlay Sand blasting And more! * Recycled Glass and Dredged Materials March 2007

Previous uses of recycled glass and Glass Facts

Previous Uses of Glass
In 2007, for the third time, Burlington County Landfill built a new cell using recycled glass pulverized into sand. In 2000, during the creation of the Jersey Gardens Mall, recycled glass was used as an aggregate for fill. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PENNDOT) has used recycled glass in the following projects: In the summer of 2000 cullet was used as an aggregate in base course asphalt along the shoulder in Manheim, Lancaster County. In the fall of 2000 PENNDOT installed 2,000 tons of glass cullet between a New Jersey barrier and sound wall along I-95 in Delaware County.

Glass Facts:
Recycled glass has been used for beaches along Lake Hood in New Zealand and on the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao. Currently, Florida and New Jersey have been in discussions of using recycled glass to counteract beach erosion. Studies have shown recycled glass to be a viable engineering material with characteristics of a lightweight granular aggregate. Combining recyclable materials into your project will create a win-win situation for your bottom line and the environment!
