Freedom to Work Founder Tico Almeida Among 5 Speakers to Call on Obama to Sign EO Prohibiting Workplace Discrimination
WASHINGTON, DC Tomorrow, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) will host a Congressional briefing on sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination in the workplace and the steps that can be taken to prevent it. Five national leaders of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) non-discrimination movement, including Freedom to Work Founder and President Tico Almeida, will discuss the urgency of preventing workplace discrimination based on an individual's sexual orientation or gender identity an issue that is quickly gaining public support for swift government action. Along with Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA) and Congresswoman Lois Capps (D-CA), Pallone is circulating a letter to President Obama calling on him to sign an executive order that would prohibit federal contractors from discrimination in the workplace.
