Job Title: Assistant Outreach Officer [Two positions available] Commitment: Minimum 4 hours/week, part time, volunteer position. Job Description: The Paradigm Shift Project (PSP) is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to lead outreach initiatives in both education and public sectors. If you are creative and passionate about community engagement, have excellent interpersonal skills, and value the opportunity to contribute to the success of an organization, this may be the perfect volunteer position for you. Specific Responsibilities: In close communication and collaboration with the Executive Director and Development Officer, assistant outreach officers will undertake a number of duties, including but not limited to: Helping to plan, organize, and run events using PSPs films and photography, including public screenings, discussion panels, presentations, exhibits, and fundraisers Conducting school presentations with PSPs educational materials Developing initiatives to expose PSPs work to broader audiences Promoting PSP to educators and the general public Networking with educators, potential donors, and other non-profits Assisting with PSPs online forum to promote audience engagement Maintaining clear and consistent communication with PSP staff on all related matters Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable development, social and/or environmental issues University/college education in a related discipline such as media, business, communications, sustainable development, environmental sciences, etc. (studies can be ongoing) Excellent written, interpersonal, and communication skills 1-3 years experience in community outreach Solid knowledge of computer software including Word and Excel Must be able to exercise judgment and work independently taking initiative as need be Must be comfortable in public speaking, networking, and leadership rolls Must be able to be in close contact with PSP staff via phone, Skype, and/or email Team player with a passion for contributing to the work of The Paradigm Shift Project Other Information: This is a part-time volunteer position. Most work can be completed from home with email correspondence, but occasional meetings will be required with our Development Officer and/or Executive Director via Skype/phone. Additionally, volunteers will be required to promote and attend semiannual fundraising events where possible.
