ABSTRACT This Dissertation report presents the preliminary results of a research on reclaiming public open spaces in Pune. The main aim of the research is to find out the contribution of these open spaces in peoples life, and to reclaim and redesign the potential spaces in Pune as good quality Public spaces. In modern days, public Open Spaces play a very important role in shaping up a community & changing the lifestyle of the society. Considering the busy city life today and the money and time restrictions on the use of traditional public spaces such as gardens, hills etc., People have started discovering new spaces like street edges and bridges to fulfill their need of community life. The review of such spaces is taken through the research. The research was carried out by observing the common people using the spaces and interviewing them informally which explored the various ways in which they use these spaces and their opinions and suggestions towards making them more effective.
