SMART METERS ALERT

American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM): smart meters are dangerous - a moratorium on their installation needs to occur. A CA health dept. agrees. WHO says the type of radiation smart meters put out is a 2B carcinogen. Radiation expert (Hirsch): 1 smart meter = (up to) full body RF radiation exposure of 160 cell phones.

Wireless / "Smart" Meters are here in our communities replacing all our existing gas, electric, & water meters. These may be called by other names: AMI, remote meters, digital meters, electronic meters, or smart meters. They all emit pulsed RF radiation, have enormous problems and issues: increased bills (sometimes 200%, 300%, or more) ; reliability and accuracy questions health impacts from microwave rf emissions privacy invasion with all energy usage data going to the utility companies and third parties hacking risk, risk to electrical grid security, increased risk for burglary; risk from electromagnetic interference future imposition of time-of-use rates, leading to more billing increases interference, w/ appliances and other wireless; shocks, and even fires power co. can remotely disconnect utilities

In all, 57 municipalities (cities and counties) in California have taken action opposing Smart Meters or criminalizing Smart Meter installations. 3 major utilities in CA and the one in Maine have "opt-out" programs so customers can avoid having one on their homes. Local residents across the USA are working to get a Smart Meter ban enacted by cities, counties, and their states. They tell utilities that they may not install Smart Meters on their homes and businesses; some are protecting existing analog meters with cages.
