Gas Agency Management System

Introduction :

The operations of a gas agency are to be automated. The operations of the gas agency include supplying of gas cylinder to various customers, to maintain the reorder level of the gas cylinders, and to standardize the price of the gas cylinders. To get a cylinder the customer must be registered with the gas agency. The details of the various customers are maintained. These details include the customer name, address, telephone number, the date of connection, the number of cylinders and the cylinder type. The cylinder type could be commercial or domestic. The stock that is available with the agency is also recorded. Details like the current stock level, the stock received, and the defects found in both domestic and commercial are all recorded. The transactions carried out by the agency are also recorded. The transaction includes the sale of the cylinder, the booking date, the cylinder type, the released date. A master price list is maintained. This shows the different price for the commercial and the domestic cylinders. A report in the form of customer, stock, gas cylinder supplied, release of the cylinder, pin code, bill is generated. These are the various operations of the gas agency that are to be automated. Once this is completed the process of automation itself is considered to be complete.

Objectives :
Creating a system to automate the services offered by the LPG Cylinder Management System, this would be more flexible than their earlier system. All Categories of Cylinder available in the system is maintained inside the stock management module. Any type of details can be made within the any module. Sale and purchase of the cylinder from and to stock are maintained in the two separate modules to make this system very much efficient.

Project Category :

The project is based on three tier architecture. The three tier architecture where the application is divided into three logical constituents- User Services Provide services such as user interface. (VB 6.0 application in this case). Business services Implement business rules (ActiveX DLL in this case). Data Services Provide handling and validation of data. (MS SQL Server in this case) Disadvantages of the two tier architecture. It puts extra load on the server. It increases the network traffic. Difficult to implement incremental improvements. Applications are bound to the data source.

Validation Checks :
Provision for check for duplicate entry of the customer_No if the customer in stock.Date can't be accepted before financial year date and after financial year date.System can't accept any character and negative values where we have to enter amount. Automatic generation of customer Id, booking Id, date at the time of data entry and also have the option to change it. Can't delete detail information, which is a part of transaction and the transaction available for that subject. We have to maintain the master data and system cant take other value in detail table. System considers only the existing values or details of master entry. System has the security at user level. There is proper check for duplicity in bill generation. Any unauthorized person cant enter into the system because each and every user of this system is already validated in system. At the time of entry system will ask for the password. So there is no chance for system crashes and mishandle.
