1. Preamble 1.1 Background
The imminent rise of the Pearl River Delta Region has significant impact on the economy of the region and of the nation as a whole. This will also provide unique opportunities to the future generations of industrialists. Already, the region has been growing at an average annual growth rate of 40% since 1991 and it is poised to become the major high technology and manufacturing centre of China and of the world. Hong Kong, being the hub of the region, will play an important leadership role in decades to come. It is believed that a background in both Engineering and Business will be a great asset for anyone who desires to be a future leader in technology-based companies in the region. This Double Degree Programme is established jointly by the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Business to provide a unique training for such highly motivated individuals to become leaders of the Twenty First Century.
1.2
Graduation Qualifications
The Double Degree in Business Administration and Engineering leads to a BEng(Hons) with a Major in one of the following Engineering disciplines and a BBA(Hons) with a Major in one of the following Business disciplines. Engineering Electrical Engineering Electronic & Information Engineering Industrial & Systems Engineering Mechanical Engineering Business Management Marketing For fulfilling the requirement of Engineering professional institutions, students can opt for taking more credits in the chosen Engineering discipline. Students choosing this study pathway will be awarded a Full Degree in the chosen Engineering discipline.

Duration and Mode of Attendance
The programme proper leading to Double Majors will normally take 4 years of full-time study. A Full Degree and a Major require additional credits while the duration of study may remain 4 years. Sandwich year is available for the students who may opt for working in the industry for one year in Year 3 i.e. one year before the final year.

2.5
Minimum Entrance Requirements
For Entry with HKALE Qualifications The General Minimum Entrance Requirements of the University and the following specific subject requirement(s) are to be satisfied.
E in two of the following HKALE subjects: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics (or Engineering Science), Chemistry or Computer Studies;
OR
E in one of the following HKALE subjects: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering Science, Chemistry or Computer Studies;
AND

E in two of the following HKALE(AS-Level) subjects: Physics, Design & Technology, Mathematics & Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Chemistry or Computer Applications (similar subjects at HKALE and HKALE(AS-Level) are mutually exclusive);
PLUS C in HKCEE Mathematics or Additional Mathematics (only required for applicants without E in HKALE Applied Mathematics or Pure Mathematics, or HKALE(AS-Level) Applied Mathematics or Mathematics & Statistics); AND D in HKCEE Physics or Engineering Science (only required for applicants without E in HKALE Physics (or Engineering Science), or HKALE(AS-Level) Physics or Design & Technology).
Alternative Entry Route An appropriate Diploma (with Credit) in a relevant engineering discipline from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University or the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE); OR An appropriate Higher Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline; OR An appropriate Associate Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

Summer Training/ Placement
Training and Placement are vital components of attaining the programme outcomes. The industrial placement is credit-bearing and compulsory in the programme, constituting the Work-Integrated Education activities as stipulated by the University. The requirements of the Work-Integrated Education are given in Section 4.3.
2.7
Student Exchanges
Exchanges to Universities overseas for a semester or an academic year are possible through various exchange schemes organised by the University or individual departments. While the number of exchanges is limited, students are encouraged to participate to enhance their allroundedness and broaden their experience. Block credit-transfers may be given to exchange-out students. However, in order to ensure attaining the pre-requisite knowledge for smooth integration of study in the programme, the students will be counselled on subject selections in the visited Universities before they leave for the exchange.
2.8
External Recognition
Students who complete the BEng(Hons) degree programme in Electrical Engineering/Electronic & Information Engineering/Mechanical Engineering will satisfy the academic requirements for Corporate Membership of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). The University is seeking accreditation for the BEng(Hons) degree programme in Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Tuition Fee
Subject to revision, the tuition fee for the first three years is the same as other UGC-funded programmes, currently at HK$42,100 per academic year. The fourth and further years of the programme are offered on a self-financed basis and the tuition fee is on a flat rate, which is currently set at HK$54,730 per academic year or HK$1,825 per credit for students who are studying on a part-time basis only.
2.10 Summer Term Teaching Usually, there will be no summer term teaching on Engineering subjects. Industrial Centre Training or External Training may take place during summers of the first two years. A few elective Business subjects may however be offered during summers of the last two years of the programme.
2.11 Daytime and Evening Teaching Subjects will be offered predominantly during the day. Some subjects, particularly the elective subjects in the senior years, may be made available only in evenings or Saturdays.
3 Aims and Rationale 3.1 Programme Philosophy
It has been recognised that engineers are no longer confined to plain nut-and-bolt tasks while they are now frequently stretched to cope with many business problems. Entrepreneurship, appreciation of cultural diversity, sound communication skills in both English and Chinese and ethics awareness are the essential, but often unwritten, attributes. On the other hand, professionals in business sectors are expected to be able to thoroughly understand advanced technologies and hence objectively evaluate their applications and market potentials/values. Fundamental principles of science and engineering and problem-solving techniques and know-hows among engineers are the inevitable knowledge but they can only be acquired through proper and structured higher education. The Programme aims to: a. provide students with the fundamental knowledge on their chosen engineering and business disciplines and their current applications; b. prepare students for practising their professions which require both engineering solutions and business decisions; c. deliver graduates with appreciation of the responsibilities of professionals in both local and international contexts. The aims are fully consistent with the Universitys mission in offering application-oriented programmes and producing preferred students who are able to apply theories in applications.

The philosophy of curricula design in this Programme has been geared toward this general direction.
3.2
Programme Outcomes and Assessment Plan
On successful completion of this Programme, students will possess the professional/academic knowledge and skills as well as the attributes for all-roundedness as specified in the programme outcomes of their selected Engineering and Business disciplines. For details on the programme outcomes as well as the learning outcomes assessment plan, please refer to the definitive programme documents of the respective awards. Besides, graduates of this Programme are expected to be competent in jobs that require an integrated knowledge and skill in Engineering and Business Administration. It is a unique outcome of this Programme in addition to those of the constituting single degree programmes. This programme outcome will be assessed through a regular graduate survey. We expect that for all graduates that are known to work at a position requiring knowledge and skill in both Engineering and Business Administration, at least 80% of them will find the training in the Programme be useful to their work. PolyU aspires to develop all its students as all-round graduates with professional competence, and has identified a set of highly valued graduate attributes as the learning goals for students. While many of these graduate attributes can be developed through the curricular activities of this programme, some are primarily addressed through co-curricular activities offered by faculties, departments, and various teaching and learning support units of the University. Students are encouraged to make full use of such opportunities to develop these attributes. For details, please refer to the definitive programme documents of the respective awards.
4 4.1
Curricula Discipline Selection
This Programme has two study pathways: a. Double Majors; b. a Full Degree in one of the four Engineering disciplines and BBA(Hons) with a Major in one of the two Business disciplines. Students in the Programme choose the particular Engineering discipline at the end of Year One Semester One and the particular Business discipline at the end of Year One Semester Two. They then follow the corresponding progression patterns. Students admitted via non-JUPAS route will be given the option to advance their selection of disciplines, both engineering and business, and study pathways at the time of admission so as to facilitate their applications for credit transfer of subjects which they have taken during their sub-degree study.

4.2
Typical Progression Patterns
Typical study plans leading to the 8 different awards are illustrated in Appendices A - H. They are only indicative but by no means mandatory, whereas students may take slightly different plans (the flexibility mainly comes from the elective subjects in the senior years) provided that the credit requirements of the intended award are fulfilled. The students are strongly encouraged to discuss their study plans with the Departmental Tutors. Detailed subject syllabi, outcomes and assessment components are given in the Definitive Programme Documents of the Departments concerned. The subject prefixes adopted in the Appendices indicate the subject-offering departments. 4.3
Work-Integrated Education
Work-Integrated Education (WIE) is introduced to the Programme from 2005/06 academic year as a University exercise. It aims to prepare students for the realities of workplaces, develop students ability to learn in non-academic surroundings, allow students to assess their own strengths and weaknesses in a realistic working settings and develop students critical thinking and problem solving capabilities.

The Departments co-offering this programme have their own WIE requirements. For students taking full-degree in an Engineering discipline and a major in a Business discipline, they must acquire the necessary WIE credits as stipulated by the Engineering Department. Students taking two majors will follow the WIE requirement of the Business Discipline. While the individual departments will be the responsible parties to pursue WIE opportunities as vigorously as possible for the students so that they meet the graduation requirements, the students are expected to play their part in ensuring that they meet the WIE requirements for graduation and that they are employment worthy.
4.4
IC Training
Besides the WIE training components, the students are required to take training at the Industrial Centre in accordance with the requirements from the respective Engineering Departments who will be responsible for arranging the IC training. The IC training-credit requirements of the Engineering Departments are as follows: Electrical Engineering 8 credits Electronic and Information Engineering 13 credits Industrial and Systems Engineering 10 credits Mechanical Engineering 10 credits The IC training is usually scheduled in the second year of study when the students have confirmed their chosen engineering discipline. The students will not pay any training fee, nor receive any stipend.
4.5
Language Enhancement Programmes
Chinese/English Language Enhancement Programmes (LEPs) will be prescribed to individual students by the Department of Chinese and Bilingual Studies (CBS) and/or English Language Centre (ELC) of the University upon their admission. The students are expected and encouraged to complete the LEPs but non-completion will not affect the students eligibility for graduation. All students are strongly encouraged to make full use of the facilities and services offered in CBS and ELC to improve their language proficiency throughout the course of the programme.
4.6
Co-curricular Activities
In order to enhance the all-roundedness of the students, all students admitted in and after 2008/09 are required to participate in at least 6 cumulative hours of non-credit bearing cocurricular activities during their study, which is a mandatory requirement for graduation. The said duration can be a combination of a number of recognized Co-curricular Activities. The scope of activities recognized for fulfilling the requirement of mandatory CCA is determined by the criteria outlined as follows: a. Non-credit bearing and non-course-required.

The learning outcomes of such activities/programmes should be able to broaden students horizon, and inspire them to actualize all-round development in terms of the strengthening of competencies under the PolyU strategic objectives 1.1. The format of these activities can be structured short courses, experiential learning, workshops, competitions, talks and seminars, study tour, voluntary work within PolyU and Community Service Learning Programme, etc. Community projects can be also recognized as co-curricular activities if the community services are endorsed by faculty/school/department. Community projects with pretraining and/or briefing sessions are more desirable. The activities should be organized or co-organized by PolyU faculties/schools/departments/units/committees, and/or endorsed by the aforesaid parties as fulfilling the above criteria. The organizer of these activities should ensure that quality assurance mechanism is in place as a measurement of student learning outcome.

However, activities like internship, placement, paid work, and contribution made by officebearers in student bodies are NOT considered as CCA. Activities counted as Work-integrated Education (WIE) should not be counted as CCA. Students' participation in such activities will be recorded in the Co-curricular Achievement Transcript (CAT) administered by the SAO.
5. 5.1
Management and Operation Programme Committee
The Programme is jointly offered by the Faculties of Engineering and Business, leading to 8 different awards upon graduation. Programme management and operation must conform to the University guidelines. A Programme Committee, composing of a Chairman, appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and representatives from the two Faculties, undertakes the overall academic and operational responsibility for the Programme and its development within the defined policies, procedures and regulations of the PolyU. From academic prospective, the Committee ensures that the curricula design is aligning with the aims and objectives of the Programme and the contents are appropriate to the standards required in the corresponding disciplines. Submission of proposals and responses to the professional or external validating/accreditation bodies; nomination of external advisors (if necessary); and continuing review of curricula are the prime duties of the Committee. The Committee is also responsible for the overall management of the admission and registration procedures, WIE training arrangements, liaison with the Faculties and Departments concerned, overseeing academic welfare and progress of students, and preparation and production of programme documents.
5.2
General Administration
The Faculty of Engineering is the administrative host of the programme. General administration of admission, preparation for Board-of-Examiners meetings and documentations is thus carried out by the Faculty of Engineering, instead of the individual Departments.
5.3
Departmental Tutors
Each participating Department nominates (by the respective Head of Department) a Departmental Tutor, who looks after the welfares of the students of the Programme in his/her Department; provides academic advice for students; and liaises with the Programme Committee on related matters if necessary. The Departmental Tutor may be the member of the Programme Committee or the Programme Leader of the corresponding degree programme of the Department.
6.
Admission, Registration and Assessment
The admission, registration and assessment arrangements described below are in accordance with the University policies and regulations for credit-based programmes which lead to an award of the University, except where the Senate decides otherwise.
6.1
Admission/Registration
Students are normally admitted into the programme via the joint admission scheme (JUPAS) on a yearly basis. Non-JUPAS applicants are also considered on their academic merits and other non-academic achievements.
6.2
Credit Transfer/Subject Exemption
Students may be allowed to have credit transferred or be exempted on subjects from recognised previous study. Credits transferred and subjects exempted normally do not carry grades. Decisions regarding granting or rejecting a subject credit transfer or exemption are entirely with the subject-offering departments. Students who have completed an approved student exchange programme may be granted a block transfer of the equivalent number of credits that have been successfully completed. In cases that credit transfer is accompanied with grade, the actual grade as approved will be used in calculating the GPA/WGPA. If the credits attained from previous study are from the PolyU, the total credit transferred should not exceed 67% of the required credits for the award. If the credits earned are from other institutions, the total credit transferred should not exceed 50%. Subject exemption may be granted when it has clearly been identified that a student has a priori knowledge of a subject (in terms of content, academic level and achievement). In cases where exemption is given, no credits for that subject will be given and the student is required to take another subject assigned in lieu of the exempted subject.
The validity period of subject credits earned is 8 years from the year of attainment, i.e. the year in which the subject is completed. Credits earned from previous study should remain valid at the time when the student applies for transfer of credits; students should submit application for credit transfer at the point of admission, i.e. Year 1.
6.3
Subject Registration/Add-drop/Subject Withdrawal
Subject registration is carried out prior to the commencement of each semester. The timetable will be drawn up based on students choices. In cases of timetable clashes, students will be allowed to re-select a different subject. Students may add and drop subjects during the add/drop period scheduled for each semester. Students are not usually allowed to drop subjects after the add/drop period. Students may apply for withdrawal of their registration on a subject after the add/drop period if they have a genuine need to do so. The application should be made to the relevant programme offering department and will require the approval of both the subject lecturer and the host Department Programme Leader concerned (or an alternate academic staff authorised by the programme host Department). If approved, the tuition fee paid for the subject will be forfeited and the withdrawal status of the subject will be shown in the examination result notification and transcript of studies but will not be counted towards the calculation of GPA.
6.4
Zero Subject Enrolment/ Deferment of Study
A student is not allowed to have zero subject registration in any semester without prior approval from the Departments to which he/she is attached. Student failing to get prior approval for zero subject registration may be regarded as having withdrawn from the programme. All semesters in which the student is allowed to take zero subject enrolment will be counted towards the maximum period of registration. Students will be responsible for ensuring that they complete their studies within the maximum period of registration. A fee for retention of study place will be charged. Application for deferment of study is only considered under very extraordinary circumstances. Deferment periods will not be counted towards the maximum period of registration. No retention fee will be charged.
6.5
General Assessment Regulations
The Universitys General Assessment Regulations (GAR) shall apply to the Double Degree Programme in Business Administration and Engineering. The specific assessment regulations are set out here, having been developed within the framework of the GAR. Students progress by credit accumulation, i.e. credits earned by passing individual subjects can be accumulated and counted towards the final award. A level in a credit-based programme indicates the intellectual demand placed upon students and may characterise each subject with respect to its recommended sequencing within that programme.

A subject is defined as a discrete section of the programme which is assigned a separate assessment. A list of subjects, together with their weightings, shall be published in the Definitive Programme Documents of individual Departments. The language of assessment shall be English, unless approval is given for it to be otherwise.
6.6
Principles of Assessment
Assessment of learning and assessment for learning are both important for assuring the quality of student learning. Assessment of learning is to evaluate whether students have achieved the intended learning outcomes of the subjects that they have taken and have attained the overall learning outcomes of the academic programme at the end of their study at a standard appropriate to the award. Appropriate methods of assessment that align with the intended learning outcomes should be designed for this purpose. The assessment methods will also enable the teacher to differentiate students different levels of performance within the subject. Assessment for learning is to engage students in productive learning activities through purposefully designed assessment tasks. Assessment will also serve as feedback to students. The assessment criteria and standards should be made explicit to students before the start of the assessment to facilitate student learning, and feedback provided should link to the criteria and standards. Timely feedback should be provided to students so that they are aware of their progress and attainment for the purpose of improvement. The ultimate authority in the University for the confirmation of academic decisions is the Senate, but for practical reasons, the Senate has delegated to the Faculty Boards the authority to confirm the decisions of Boards of Examiners provided these are made within the framework of the General Assessment Regulations. Recommendations from Board of Examiners which fall outside these Regulations shall be ratified by VP(AD) and reported to the Senate.
6.7
Assessment Methods
Students performance in a subject is assessed by continuous assessment and/or examinations. Where both methods are used, the weighting of each in the overall subject grade is clearly stated. Continuous assessment may include tests, assignments, projects, laboratory work, field exercises, presentations and other forms of classroom participation. Continuous Assessment assignments which involve group work should nevertheless include some individual components therein. The contribution made by each student in continuous assessment involving a group effort is determined and assessed separately. Assessment methods and parameters of subjects are determined by the subject-offering department. At the beginning of each semester, the subject lecturer will inform students of the details of the assessment methods to be used within the assessment framework as specified in this document.

6.8
Progression/Academic Probation/ Deregistration
If the Grade Point Average (GPA) of a student is below 2.0, he/she will be put on academic probation in the following semester. If the student is able to pull his/her GPA up to 2.0 or above at the end of the probation semester, the status of academic probation will be lifted. The status of academic probation will be reflected in the examination result notification but not in the transcript of studies. A student is referred to the Board of Examiners of the Programme with the probable consequence of being de-registered from the programme if he/she falls within one of the following categories: a. the students GPA is lower than 2.0 for 3 consecutive semesters. b. the students GPA is lower than 2.0 for 2 consecutive semesters and his Semester GPA in the second semester is also lower than 2.0. c. the student has exceeded the maximum period of registration for the programme. Notwithstanding the above, a student may be de-registered from the programme enrolled before the time specified above if his/her academic performance is so poor to the extent that the Board of Examiners deems that his/her prospect of attaining a GPA of 2.0 or above at the end of the programme is slim or the student is incapable of completing the programme at all.
6.9
Retaking Subjects
Students may retake any subject for the purpose of improving their grade without having to seek approval, but they must retake a compulsory subject which they have failed, i.e. obtained an F grade. Retaking of subjects is with the condition that the maximum study load of 21 credits per semester is not exceeded. Students wishing to retake passed subjects will be accorded a lower priority than those who are required to retake (due to failure in a compulsory subject) and can only do so if places are available. The number of retakes of a subject is not restricted. Only the grade obtained in the final attempt of retaking (even if the retake grade is lower than the original grade for originally passed subject) will be included in the calculation of the Grade Point Average (GPA). If students have passed a subject but failed after retake, credits accumulated for passing the subject in a previous attempt will remain valid for satisfying the credit requirement for award. (The grades obtained in previous attempts will only be reflected in the transcript of studies.) In cases where a student takes another subject to replace a failed elective subject, the fail grade will be taken into account in the calculation of the GPA, despite the passing of the replacement subject.
6.10 Appeal Against Examination Results A student may appeal against the decision of the Board of Examiners within 7 working days after the public announcement of the examination results. The appeal should be made to the Programme Chairman in writing. The Programme Chairman will inform the student of the appeal results within 7 working days upon the receipt of all required information. Students may refer to the Student Handbook for more details on appeal procedures.

F is a subject failure grade, whilst all others (D to A+) are subject passing grades. No credit will be earned if a subject is failed. Each grade is assigned a numerical value as indicated in Table 6.11.2. At the end of each semester, the GPA will be computed to indicate the students performance up to and including the last semester. Exempted, incomplete and ungraded subjects for which credit transfer has been approved without assigning a grade, and subjects from which a student has been allowed to withdraw (i.e. those with grade W) will be excluded from the GPA calculation. Subject which has been given a S subject code i.e. absent from examination, will be included in the GPA calculation and will be counted as zero grade point. In determining the classification of awards, the credits earned at Levels 2, 3, 4 and even 5 are weighted. The weightings are stipulated by the departments offering the disciplines which the

It is only applicable to admittees who do not have a "pass" in the A-level Mathematics subject(s) and who have not been given credit transfer for the subject AMA201 stipulated in the curriculum -These students are required to take a mandatory Mathematics Benchmark Test (MBT) prior to the commencement of their studies. Those who pass the MBT are exempted from this graduation requirement and they follow the normal study pattern. Those who fail or do not attend the MBT are required to take a non-credit bearing subject AMA106 Foundation Mathematics, which is a pre-requisite for AMA201. A pass in AMA106 Foundation Mathematics is thus a graduation requirement for such students.

Students have to fulfill the graduation requirements of both the engineering and business awards in order to graduate. Their award classifications are based on their two GPAs on the respective Engineering and Business disciplines. Table 6.11.3 shows the guidelines for the classifications; these are meant to be guidelines for reference only, the Board of Examiners shall exercise its judgement in coming to its conclusions as to the award for each student, and where appropriate, may use other relevant information. The students performance/attainment is outstanding, and 3.7 - 4 identifies him as exceptionally able in the field covered by the programme in question. The student has reached a standard of performance/ 3.2+ - 3.7attainment which is more than satisfactory but less than outstanding. The student has reached a standard of performance/ + 2.3 - 3.2 attainment judged to be satisfactory, and clearly higher than the essential minimum required for graduation. A Pass-without-Honours degree award will be recommended only under exceptional circumstances. When a student has demonstrated a level of attainment which is below the essential minimum required for graduation with Honours from the programme but when he/she has nonetheless covered the prescribed work of the programme in an adequate fashion, while failing to show sufficient evidence of the intellectual capability expected of Honours degree graduates. For example, if a student in an Honours degree programme has a GPA of 2.0 or more, but his WGPA is less than 2.0, he/she may be considered for a Pass-without-Honours classification. Any subjects passed after the graduation requirement has been met or subjects taken on top of the prescribed credit requirements for award shall not be taken into account in the grade point calculation for award classification. However, if a student attempts more elective subjects (or optional subjects) than those required for graduation in or before the semester in which he/she becomes eligible for award, the elective subjects (or optional subjects) with a higher grade/contribution shall be included in the grade point calculation (i.e. the excessive subjects attempted with a lower grade/contribution, including failed subjects, will be excluded).
6.12 Aegrotat Award If a student is unable to complete the requirement of the programme for the award due to very serious illness, or other very special circumstances which are beyond his control, and considered by the Board of Examiners as legitimate, the Faculty Board will determine whether the student will be granted an aegrotat award. Aegrotat award will be granted under very exceptional circumstances. A student who has been offered an aegrotat award shall have the right to opt either to accept such an award, or request to be assessed on another occasion to be stipulated by the Board of Examiners; the students exercise of this option shall be irrevocable. The acceptance of an aegrotat award by a student shall disqualify him from any subsequent assessment for the same award. An aegrotat award shall normally not be classified, and the award parchment shall not state that it is an aegrotat award. However, the Board of Examiners may determine whether the award should be classified provided that they have adequate information on the students academic performance.
6.13 Compulsory Graduation A student must graduate as soon as the criteria for graduation in the programme are satisfied. That is, a student will be allowed to register for more credits than needed only if adequate credits for graduation have not yet been accrued. This requirement has been stipulated in order to ensure the most efficient use of the PolyU resources.

Appendix I
Foundation Year for Non-local Students

Introduction
The foundation year offered to non-local students is operated as the first-year and an integral part of the 5-year Double Degree curriculum, with the aims to providing them a home-base and a better sense of belonging, and integrating the foundation year curriculum with the basic requirements of the designated undergraduate degree programme better. Students are required to complete a total of 34 credits in the foundation year.
2.
Programme Structure
Duration A student normally takes five years full-time with an option of an additional year for sandwich. The maximum period of registration is eight years. Final Award 4 Engineering and 2 Business disciplines are included in this Double Degree Programme. Different progression patterns will lead to the award of Double Majors; One Full single discipline Degree in one chosen Engineering discipline and a Major in one chosen Business discipline. Curriculum The students will complete 14 subjects, 34 credits, in the first year. The typical foundation year study for 2011/12 admittees is as follows:

In the subsequent four years, they follow the identical study pattern in the 4-year undergraduate programme as for 2012/13 admittees. For reference, the study pattern for 2011/12 admittees are described in the main content of this document. As a result, students should finish the first 34 credits and the credits required for their study pattern, as well as fulfilling the training and language requirements, when they graduate.

Registration & Assessment
The same set of regulations on registration and assessment for 2012/13 admittees will apply. For reference, the existing regulation is stipulated in Section 6. The GPA calculation includes the results of all subjects throughout the five years, the WGPA calculation, which leads to award classification, however excludes all subjects in the foundation-year. In other words, the award classification only considers the students performance on the same subjects taken in the normal 4-year programme.
