Acknowledgement
One of the most pleasant parts of submitting a report is the opportunity to thank those

who have contributed to it. Unfortunately, the list of expression of thanks- no matter how extensive is always incomplete and inadequate. These acknowledgements are no exception.

Our first acknowledge goes to the almighty Allah for bestowing us the patience and courage to finish this huge task within its deadline.

Acknowledgments must go to the team members, whose unflagging patience and astounding capacity for creative work, and long hours made the project both possible and successful under the pressure of knocking deadline.

At last, we sincerely acknowledge our debt to Muhammad Faisol Chowdhury, our honorable faculty, for his valuable counseling towards the improvement of the project. Without his encouragement, this would have been impossible.

Executive Summary:

This report lists and explains different questions that are generally asked by an interviewer and also illustrates a preparation guide for interviewers and interviewees. Initially, our report consists of 10 questions that we may use to interview candidates for the job of teaching MGT 351. Major questions include asking candidates to describe themselves, why should we hire them, what are their strengths, what are their career goals, what really attracts them behind choosing the profession of a teacher and also whether they believe in themselves that they are capable of performing the job tasks efficiently. We believe that these questions will help us a great deal to assess and evaluate the candidates properly. Next, our report explains how to become an effective interviewer. We have discussed about some important steps and procedures that a person should go through to become a successful interviewer. We also have mentioned some issues that the interviewer should always be aware of like EEO, AA, and Diversity Management and so on. We believe that any person who would go through these steps will be very close of becoming an effective interviewer. In the final phase of the project, we have discussed regarding how a person can prepare for a successful interview. We believe that to excel in interviews, one need to follow some generalized rules and systems that we have discussed in this report. We have also stated our recommendations and limitations on doing this report. We believe that the range of questions and tips discussed in our report will not only help to create meticulous interview questions and effective interviewers, but also help interviewees to successfully impress the interviewers and capture the job.

1.0 Introduction:
This report was written for the partial fulfillment of our Management-351 course entitled Human Resource Management which is a core course in B.B.A. In this course we come to know different theories which are based on the Human Resource Management. While we are writing this report we are have founds lots of similarity on these theories. Before writing this report we only had the theoretical knowledge about this topic but we had the curiosity how this Human resource management system really works in real life. This report gave the opportunity to teach us the real impact of human resource management activities in an organization which helped us to understand the depth of the topic more and to connect the theory with our real life implications. 1.1Objective: Once we finish our studies, most of us will probably enter the corporate world. There we will have to face frequent interviews. Then gradually in future we will certainly become interviewers. So, to be successful in our field of work it is very important to know about the system or process of becoming a successful interviewer and interviewee. The objective of our report is to find out the way of turning oneself into an effective interviewer and also how to prepare oneself to be a successful interviewee. 1.2Scope: This report includes the mostly accepted way of becoming an effective interviewer and a successful interviewee. We also have included questionnaires which are frequently asked during interviews, mostly for the HR candidates. By following these, we believe that anyone with good potential and integrity can become successful in his/ her work. So, the scope is there for individuals to improve themselves and keep themselves up-to-date with the advancement of the corporate world by following our report. We also had scope to talk with different successful interviewees and effective interviewers while doing our report. We believe these little experiences will help us a lot in our upcoming future.

1.3Methodology: To fulfill our objective we have conduct several methods to get our desired information. We have researched over some books to get the perfect knowledge about our project topics. We also visited the website to get the clear idea and in dept information about the advancement and latest trends. We have also talked with different corporate people just to know about their experiences and to get a real idea. 1.4Limitations: We tried our level best to prepare the report properly and efficiently. However, we also had some limitation in our work like others. We have prepared the set of questionnaires based on our own perception and knowledge. We have also written the procedure of becoming an effective interviewer and successful interviewee based on our own way of thinking and the way that we have found to be most effective and mostly accepted worldwide. However, any individual may disagree with us as different people have different way of thinking and different view point. One may think some elements to be more important that we may have found less important. But we have tried hard to generalize things and tried to make our findings acceptable to majority of the people. Other than these we do not have any other major limitations in our work.

2.0 Report Body 2.1Part-01

The 10 questions that we will use to interview candidates for the job of teaching MGT-351: 1. Tell us something about yourself. By this question candidate is asked to give a general idea about him/her. The general information includes name, academic background, interests, hobby etc. A candidate can describe him/herself in several ways, such as

I'm a people person. I really enjoy meeting and working with a lot of different people.

I'm a perfectionist. I pay attention to all the details, and like to be sure that everything is just right.

I'm a creative thinker. I like to explore alternative solutions to problems and have an open mind about what will work best.

I'm efficient and highly organized. This enables me to be as productive as possible on the job.

I enjoy solving problems, troubleshooting issues, and coming up with solutions in a timely manner.

When you respond, keep in mind the type of position you are interviewing for, the company culture, and the work environment. Your answer should help show the interviewer why you're a match for the job and for the company. 2. Why are you interested in teaching Human Resource Management? By this question an interviewee is asked to explain why he/she has chosen this particular field. He/she can say, I have done my major in Human Resource Management and I have experience in managing people, their work and interpersonal relationship with them. An interviewee can answer this question in this manner, Actually I am extrovert person. I like talking people, meeting new people, I like that everyone should know me as a HR .Human Resource is an important asset for any organization .You need professionals who can take care of Human Resource in an efficient and effective way because at the end of a day if your employee would not be happy than the effect will be on the Organization Performance. So HR Professionals are the persons who take care of this important resource and that are why they are called Human Doctors. As a profession HR gives you more liberty in bringing the changes in the organization that you want, whether it is - policy making, Appraisals, Recruitment, Employee Engagement all give you satisfaction and keep you in high spirits. 3. What are your greatest strengths? This is one of the easier interview questions interviewee will be asked. When candidate is asked questions about strengths, it's important to discuss attributes that will qualify the candidate for the job. The best way to respond is to describe the skills and experience that directly correlate
9

with the job candidate is applying for. A candidate can answer this question in several ways such as When I'm working on a project, I don't want just to meet deadlines. Rather, I prefer to complete the project well ahead of schedule. I have exceeded my sales goals every quarter and I've earned a bonus each year since I started with my current employer. My time management skills are excellent and I'm organized, efficient, and take pride in excelling at my work. I pride myself on my customer service skills and my ability to resolve what could be difficult situations. 4. Why should we hire you? The best way to respond is to give concrete examples of why your skills and accomplishments make you the best candidate for the job. Take a few moments to compare the job description with your abilities, as well as mentioning what you have accomplished in your other positions. Be positive and reiterate your interest in the company and the position. 5. What are the most important things you are looking for job? Best way to respond to this question is focusing on self esteem, recognition, experience, social status etc rather than focusing on salary. Candidate can mention about how much salary he/she is looking for if asked but should not mention the exact amount but can mention a range. This may seem like an easy common interview question to answer, it is in fact a tricky job interview question. While the interviewer is asking you what you are looking for in a job, in actual fact they want you to answer with what they are looking for from you. Again when preparing for this question, be sure to have the job ad close at hand in order to assess in precise detail what the recruiter is looking for in a candidate. Answer this question the way you think the interviewer wants you to answer it, by describing desires that the job you have applied for will be able to deliver to the candidate.

10

6. What are your career goals for next 5 years? Try to avoid vague or general answers such as I would hope to grow with the responsibility I am offered and to develop my skills as far as I am able or I would expect to be in a management role by then. This question allows you to demonstrate that you have done your research on the career routes open to you within the organization and so you should try to be more specific - not necessarily tying yourself down to a particular route, but showing that you have at least a general idea of where you want to go. Use the employer's recruitment literature to gain an idea of the career paths followed by past graduates. You may be able to supplement this by showing your knowledge of professional bodies and the steps you will need to take to gain their qualifications, e.g. in areas such as Human Resource Management. When answering this typical job interview question stay focused on career goals and aspirations. 7. Do you thing you can reach to your goals by working in this organization? A short term goal generally falls within a one to two year delivery period. The goals that you describe should be career focused, based on areas where you would like to improve on a skill or achieve a qualification that will boost your career growth. When answering to how you intend on achieving these goals to the employer, never leave a door closed. Opportunity and drive is your number one objective in order to achieve any goal and this is why your explanation needs to be realistic and attainable within this short period. By displaying your enthusiasm and desire to succeed, this will indicate to the employer that you are a motivated and inspired employee. Without goals, we are just like a headless chicken running around a field without anything to aim for. A goal will help to provide us with guidance and direction and help us move forward in life.

8. What do you find most attractive about this position? By asking this question I will be able to identify what really attracts the candidate behind choosing the profession of teaching. I will get to know does the money in the profession attract him or he/she wants the get the respect. Some may also have a broader thinking, like one may wish to give proper knowledge or education to the students and this may be the most desirable thing to him. So, this question will help me to know the persons real Moto in life.
11

9. Can you perform the essential functions of the job for which you have applied for? This question is basically about knowing the job-fit of the candidate. The way the candidate will answer this question, I will be able to judge his confidence level. I will also be able to identify the candidates mind set and does he/she really believe in himself that he/she has the capability of performing the job duties and responsibilities efficiently. If the person has the confidence of doing the work properly than it will show in up in the way he /her answers the questions. So, the judging the person will be a lot easier for me.

10. Do you have any questions about your job duties or about the organization? This question is also very important. It is very often found that the candidates also have something to ask about the organization, organizational structure, job duties and responsibilities, salary structure etc. This question will give them a chance to know about these very important issues. The candidate and I will also be sure about the organization fit that means will the candidate be able to cope him/her the new job environment and organizational culture.

These are the 10 questions that we think can be asked when we are taking interview for the job of teaching Management-351 in North-South University.

12

2.2Part-2
How to be an effective as an employment interviewer: It is not always easy to become a successful job interviewer. To be a successful job interviewer one have to go through several processes and different steps. Here we are going to discuss the steps and processes of becoming a successful interviewer: First, you need to know what are the vacant positions are available in the organization and what type of people you want for those positions, like do you want people from Human Resource background or you want people from finance, marketing etc. Then you need to choose the interview format. There are different types of interview formats available like the structured or unstructured format. There are also different types of interview techniques, for example there are sequential, panel, and situational, online are many other types of interview techniques available. To be a successful interviewer you have to find the best technique and best format according to the situation and according to your need. After you have successfully chosen the interview format, now its time to prepare the questions that you will going to ask the interviewees. The questions should be logical and they should bring out the best from the interviewee. By judging the answers, it should be possible to select the appropriate person for the respective job. This is why it is very important to select the questions properly. It is often found that if the questions are not well structured the whole interview process comes under criticism. The next step is to review the review the candidates resumes. It is very often found that the applicants have applied through their resumes. If the interviewer goes through the resumes before the interview, then it is obvious that the interviewer will have some sort of primary idea about the person and about his/her background. Then it will become a lot easier for the interviewer to conduct the interview successfully and hence become a successful interviewer.

13

Doing Research Once you have properly implemented the previous stuffs than the time has come to do some research work. Labor Market Analysis: Labor market analysis means to find out the supply and demand of talents in the labor market. If the supply and demand of labor and talent in the market is sufficient than you will have one unique type of mindset before interview. However, if you find that the supply is less than the demand or the demand is less than the supply than you will have a whole different mindset. So, before the interview starts you have to be sure about these things in your mind. Demographic Condition: This means to find out the condition of the country, like what is the total population, what is the density, what is the average age etc. These things are also very important to know as an interviewer and specially if you want to be a successful one. Target Role Analysis: Target role analysis means to analyze the job duties and responsibilities that the selected person will have to perform. The target role analysis is more like the job analysis thing. Before the interview starts it is very important to do some research about these issues as it will give the interviewer an overall idea of the current situation.

Planning the whole interview process: The next step is to plan the whole interview process and structure. It is very to plan a thing before executing it. In this planning process the interviewer have to know about some important issues. Ethical issues: The interviewer should be aware of the ethical issues. Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO):- EEO means to give a fair and equal chance to everyone. The interviewer should not be biased on any circumstances. To follow EEO is

14

legislative that if the interviewer does not treat everyone equally during the interview then he/she is violating the law and the interviewee can take legal actions against the person. Affirmative Action (AA):- Affirmative Action means to go beyond EEO and doing something extra for the minorities and women. It is not legislative to perform Affirmative Action. Affirmative action refers to policies that take factors including "race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation or national origin" into consideration in order to benefit an underrepresented group, usually as a means to counter the effects of a history of discrimination. The focus of such policies ranges from employment and education to public contracting and health programs. Affirmative action is intended as an attempt to promote equal opportunity. It is often instituted in government and educational settings to ensure that minority groups within a society are included in all programs. The justification for affirmative action is that it helps to compensate for past discrimination, persecution or exploitation by the ruling class of a culture and to address existing discrimination. The implementation of affirmative action, especially in the United States, is considered by its proponents to be justified by disparate impact. Anti-Discrimination:- To be a successful interviewer, one of the most important things is to know about various discriminatory acts and keep himself/ herself away from it. The interviewer should take some time between the interviews and should evaluate himself that he/she is not discriminating anyone in any aspect. Diversity Management: "Diversity Management" is a strategy to promote the perception, acknowledgement and implementation of diversity in organizations and institutions. The "business case for diversity" theorizes that, in a global marketplace, a company that employs a diverse workforce (both men and women, people of many generations, people from ethnically and racially diverse backgrounds etc.) is better able to understand the demographics of the marketplace it serves and is thus better equipped to thrive in that marketplace than a company that has a more limited range of employee demographics. Diversity can be based on age, race, ethnicity, nationality etc.

15

Establish Rapport with the interviewee at first: First of all, the interviewer should welcome candidate with friendly behaviour because the candidates are always nervous in the interview period. The interviewer should try to make the interviewee as comfortable as possible. So interviewer can ask him non-job related question as well as can gossip few minutes to make him comfortable. The interviewer should be aware of the following: Have a firm handshake Be alert and upright - and relax! Look enthusiastic and interested Speak clearly Maintain plenty of eye contact Let the interviewer lead Don't go on too much - watch for any signs of boredom on behalf of the interviewer Avoid jargon Think replies out before answering Leave with a smile!

Start the main interview: The interviewer can use sequential strategy to understand the candidate well. This is the main part of the interview where the interviewer will ask technical questions regarding the interviewees background. It's better therefore to focus on 'good' interview questions rather than 'tough' ones. Good interview questions encourage interviewees to think about them and to give the interviewer clear and revealing information as to the interviewee's needs, capabilities, experience, personality, and suitability for the job. The best interview questions are therefore the questions which most help interviewees to reveal their skills, knowledge, attitudes, and feelings to the interviewer. But the interviewee should maintain good eye contact and be aware of body language.

16

Close the interview: It is the important component for conducting the interview. Actually two things are necessary for ending the interview. Give chance to the candidate for asking any question about job or organization. Try to end the interview on a positive note .Going for a review process such as the interviewer should say the answer of the question whatever he asked, tracking the numbers so that the candidate can understand his mistake and his position during the interview period .The beginning and ending of the interview can be the most crucial aspects of the interview. Finally, close the interview by explaining what happens next in the hiring process and thank the candidate for his or her time. If appropriate, explain that once the hiring decision has been made, job offers may be conditioned on favorable results of any necessary professional and/or physical examinations or successful completion of academic requirements. Avoid stating any type of appointment commitment, even when you are in a position to guarantee it. Review the process: After the candidate leaves candidate, the interviewer can review the note and fill in the structured interview guide. Reviewing the interview shortly after the candidate leaves which can also help minimize snap judgments and negative emphasis. So, it always very important to review the stuffs once the interviewee leaves. Final assessment and eventually selecting the appropriate person for the vacant position: For every organization it is important to have a right person on a right j o b . Recruitment and Selection plays a vital role in this situation. selecting a right candidate. Recruitment precedes selection and helps in

Different types of people, as determined by their personalities or

work styles, will be successful in different types of companies. If you're in the recruiting process, break down each candidate in terms of three areas: work style, management requirements and ideal work environment. These factors don't necessarily address the candidate's skills as they relate to the job. The candidate's ability to get the job done is a given in this case. These criteria
17

will be helpful in choosing any candidate, and will be especially beneficial when you have two or more top prospects from which to choose .There are elements of a candidate's work style beyond the basic ability to complete the necessary tasks. These are the personality traits that motivate a person to do the job. It can also be mentioned that the interview should take place in a private room where telephone calls are not accepted and cannot be minimized interruptions. Probably most interviews fail to unearth the best candidate because the interviewer is unprepared or overconfident or just plain lazy. Be prepared to keep an open mind regarding the candidate and to keep a record of the answers and review them after the interview. After completing the interview of the candidate, the interviewer should sit with their board members to select the candidate finally for the position. Taking opinion from each other regarding candidate, they can select right person for the right job.

2.3Part-03
How to take preparation as an interviewee for a successful interview: An interview is a formal meeting with a view to ascertaining your suitability for the job before entering a contract or agreement. The job interview is a strategic conversation to determine whether a good fit exists between you and the employer. It is like a tape recorder in which your past incidents, feelings and reactions are played back to the living present to be listened to by the interviewer who can then get a glimpse into your inner qualities which otherwise cannot be easily exposed. It is a social process, which involves interaction between two persons the interviewer and the interviewee. The interviewer tries to expose the inner traits and qualities of the interviewee. Through this method it is possible for a person to come in contact with the other and know his attitudes, characteristics and ideas on a variety of subjects. In an interview, a rapport is established between the interviewer (an individual or an interview board/panel) and the interviewee (the candidate aspiring for the job.

18

The interviewer will try to determine whether you with all of these attributes, will be an asset to the organization. Your goal is to present yourself as the best candidate for the position and also to learn more about the position and the employer. You also want to determine whether the organization and the position is well suited for you and your career goals. Thus, the interview is a two-way discussion rather than an interrogation, as it is often perceived to be. The interview is your chance to communicate your ability and skills directly to the potential employer. An interview is an opportunity for both parties to get to know each other and to determine if there is potential for a match. Anyone can learn to have a successful interview because interviews are skill-based. Most people find having interviews to be a terrifying prospect. Remember that the key to a successful interview is preparation and careful listening. The interview is a vital step to getting a career position and consequently deserves more than casual preparation. You need to be ready to answer questions about your career goals and background. You will also want to develop intelligent questions that will help you make an informed job choice decision. Furthermore, preparation helps build your Self-confidence in your interview skills. Most importantly, preparation is the key to a successful interview session.

Preparing For the Interview So, you have landed an interview for a seemingly wonderful job! Now what? Successful interviewing will be essential in order for you to lock in an offer. it provides you with the key tips and strategies for having a successful interview from preparation through delivery. Let's start with an overview of the keys to positive interview experience.

Know Yourself Most interviews include questions regarding your qualifications, education, campus and community activities, prior work experience, personal characteristics, skills, career interests and goals. To prepare for answering questions about yourself, think about the following questions: Which skills and personality characteristics do I want to talk about?

19

What are my strengths? How did I develop them (in what activities?) What are my weaknesses? How am I improving them? What job experiences are most relevant to this position? What did I gain from my college education and college experience? What are my short and long-range career goals? How does this position and employer relate to those goals? Focus on those experiences that best sell you for the position for which you are being interviewed. If you are unsure or undecided about which jobs or career fields best match your skills, interests and background, take the time NOW to assess yourself and explore various career fields. In addition, identify your key strengths related to the position and be able to cite examples of these strengths. Know Your Career Field and the Specific Position Before being interviewed for positions, complete thorough research of various career options of interest to you. Gain as much information as possible about the career field(s) including, nature of work, job responsibilities, skills, education and other qualifications required, and entry-level salary ranges. In addition to researching the career field, you need to analyze the specific job description and how your background, skills and experience apply to each position. Prepare a list of pertinent functions of the position and the skills needed to get the job done. Then make a list of your experiences and accomplishments and assess how you have developed and applied these skills. In addition, evaluate your interest in this position/career field and be able to articulate it. Know the Employer and Industry It is also important to learn as much as you can about the employer before your interview. By adequately researching the organization, you will have a much better chance of creating a positive impression. The following questions can help guide your research. What is the size and structure of the organization? What are the organization's products and services?
20

What is the organization known for? What are the geographical locations of its plants, divisions, subsidiaries, stores or sales outlets? How well is the organization doing? Who are the organization's clientele or customers, and major competitors? What are the organization's entry level positions, career paths? To obtain information about the employer, read company annual reports, recruiting literature, promotional materials, organization web page, job descriptions, employer directories, newspaper business sections, trade journals, and other related business publications. However, you will probably also want to use large university libraries, public libraries, the employer's public or investor relations department, local Chambers of Commerce and the Internet to access these information resources. Uncover the Interviewers Real Needs Spend as little as possible answering your interviewers first question and as much time as possible getting him or her to describe his or her needs. Determine what the person is expecting to accomplish and the type of person she or he is needed. Once you know the type of person your interviewer is looking for and the sorts of problems he or she wants solved, you are in a good position to describe your own accomplishment in terms of the interviewers need. Your Facial Expression An interview can judge a lot from your facial expressions. Wear a smile when you enter the interview room. The smile should continue once you are in and are greeting the members of the interview board. This indicates the candidates self-confidence and relaxed attitude and will help to develop a quick rapport with the board members. A long and serious face strains the atmosphere for both you and the interviewers. A ready, pleasant and spontaneous smile creates a favorable impression on the members of the interview board. However dont continue to smile once the interview gets started.

21

Right on Time
Time has immense importance especially in the corporate world .this is the right time to show the right attitude never be late on the day of interview as this will do nothing good with your future.

Speech Mannerism The interview is an oral examination to assess your personality; therefore your speech mannerisms assume much importance. They are a medium of communication and denote the cultural and environmental influences on your personality. Self-Confidence Self confidence is very important when you are giving an interview. While you are facing an interview you should believe in yourself and that makes you to be confident. Dress to Make a Good First Impression. The best way to ensure a good first impression is to dress smart. If you are interviewing for a job in an office, it is usually best to wear a dark-colored, conservative suit (for both men and women). If you are interviewing for a job where the dress code is more casual (at a factory or a construction site, for example), nice slacks and a collared button-down shirt with a tie for men and a nice dress or blouse and slacks or skirt for women are usually appropriate. You should avoid wearing excessive jewelry, perfume, and flamboyant clothes. Good personal hygiene is also important. If you are unsure what to wear, you should always go with the most conservative, professional option. What you are wearing tells employers a lot about how serious you are about getting the job. Its not about money for you:
Its an obvious thing that you want to work and at the same time you want to earn good but still it is a wrong attitude to ask about the salary by yourself. Unless and until you are not asked about the salary you should not talk about that as it will give a bad impression.

Follow up with a Thank-You Note. Make sure you let the interviewer know how pleased you were to have the chance to interview with him or her. Immediately after the interview, send the interviewer a thank-you note, thanking him or her for taking time to interview you.
22

3.0 Recommendations:
The findings and conclusion in this report support the following recommendations: An interviewee always should focus on what the employers has asked for not on what he/she wants to say. An interviewee should not mention his/her weaknesses unless he /she is asked to. An interviewee should be very careful about what he/she is saying. He/she should not sound arrogant while giving answers of the questions. An interviewee should always keep in mind that the organization needs him/her as much as he/she needs it. So, he/she answer the questions in a decent manner. An interviewee is suggested to take preparation way ahead the interview date. He/she should plan the overall preparations steps those he /she is going to take. An interviewer should plan the overall process of conducting recruitment and selection process. An interviewer should keep in mind to apply AA, EEO, diversity and other ethical issues. An effective interviewer is always recommended to research about the labor market. During the interview session an employer or interviewer should always give the candidate a second chance. An interviewee can be nervous so, it is the employers responsibility to make the candidate comfortable. Interviewer should give the candidate chance to ask questions if he/she has any. While asking questions an interviewee should sound polite and decent.

23

4.0 Conclusion:
At last we want to say that, our findings in this report will certainly assist individuals to perform successful interviews and also will help interviewees to prepare themselves for their respective interviews to some extent. All these questions and points might sound very common and easy, but they turn out to be very important as soon as we enter our professional lives. These actions reflect our own personality, and so framing these actions carefully before performing them is very important. When we sit in interviewers chair, these reports help us to do efficient recruitment. And when we are interviewees, these reports will also assist us in creating a remarkable impression in the interviewers mind. So, it is very important that how we represent ourselves in front of the audiences. And we believe, anyone who will follow our points and steps mentioned in the report will sure be successful and effective. We should present ourselves with confidence and dedication
