have worked at Fortress of Hope for 4 years taking care of the children. It was been a great blessing to be here at this place because I know that God is allowing me to fulfill His call. My testimony has been a great test of faith. I have been married for 19 months and have the blessing of being the mom to a beautiful baby girl named Katty Belen. After she was born, on March 19, 2011, I felt really strong pains, and my husband took me to the emergency room at the clinic. I could not walk because of the pain, and the medicine they gave me did not ease it. The doctor told my husband that they would do everything possible to save my life, but the truth was that I would probably die. My heart broke, and I asked a sister church to pray for me. I put all my trust in Jesus. My greatest concern was for my daughter, as she was just a month and a half old. After many tests, the doctors told me that I had pancreatitis, and I went to the intensive care room. I continued to trust God fully, and I knew that He would get rid of the illness. One thing is sure He will not give us more than we can handle. As the days passed, many people from different churches came to pray for me and give me words of encouragement. My husband was also without a job during this time, and he cared for our daughter. Many brothers and sisters in Christ supported us during this hard time. One day the doctor came in and told me that they had to operate as soon as possible. He said that if they did not operate, I would probably die, but I could also die during the operation. I told the doctor that I would have the operation and put my life in Gods hands. We found out that if I did make it through the surgery, I would need special care afterwards. My husband told me that God would provide. When I woke up from the surgery, I wanted so badly to see my daughter. My husband took pictures of her and brought them to me, and I slowly began to recover. It was a long month, but I understood that God provides for us and that sometimes we have to go through the fire to be refined as gold. I encourage you that no matter how difficult your situation is continue to trust in God. He is the one who has control of our lives. Isaiah 41:10 says So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. -Veronica

about my testimony and how we can learn more about Jesus. Before I knew Jesus, I was not kind. I lost my privileges because of things I said and did, and I got tired of this life. So I decided in my heart that I needed to change. I tried to change, but after a couple months, I did the same wrong things again. The main reason why I was behaving badly over and over was because I didnt have Jesus in my heart. When we have Jesus in our lives, everything is different. We can believe that God is alive, but sometimes we dont look for Him. People came into my life to share about Jesus and teach me how to receive Him as Savior, but I told them that I did not need Him, that I wasnt ready. However, soon after, I broke my ankle and asked God to help me. I realized that we cant just ask him for things we need in bad times We need Him in good and bad moments. One day I was at church, and I wanted to go to the platform and receive Jesus as my Savior. I remember that I told my house mom that I was going to go, so I walked to the front and truly received Jesus into my heart. Now I am going to receive discipleship lessons with Francela and get ready for my baptism. Later I want to be part of the Christian Dancing Academy. I want to give thanks to those who have been supporting me. Thank you for everything, and I ask God to protect you. -Minerva
