Lorenzo us history 10 CP1 4/18/11 weapons tech in the civil war in the united states before and during the civil war the invention and deployment of new fir arms ment faster shooting and more precise shots. on the battlefield the weapons revolitonized war men could shoot mulpital shots quickly and hit there target almost every time. the innovation of new firearms made the union more successful in battle because, not only were they more deadly, but they raised troop morale.

Samuel colts weapons where the best weapons for the job of raising moral and providing death for the confederation. when colt first came out with his new lines of weapons he was mainly mimicking his competitors with regular flintlock pisol's with rifled barrells(....). once samuel had established himself as a prominate gun manufacurar he came up with a revoltunary idea. he had his firearms created by mecheans, this was an important innovation because now the men and women who used these guns no longer had to go to a gun smith in order to get there weapons repaired they could simply order or buy new parts and repair themthemselves.(....). because of the mecheans samual colt was able to produse an astounding 250 guns per day which was un heard of for the day, this innovation mabe the weapons cheep innitanally and kept mantince costs down securing colt as the most prominant gunsmith of the time.(....) as time drew on colt lost most of his esteam in the gun community and became bankrupt and closed his

shop(....). however the leader of the texas rangers at the time sent him an order for allot of his infamous 5 shot revolvers.(...) however along with another prominate man of the time eli Whitney he devolved the walker pistol which was a pistol with 6 shots instead of the previous 5.(....) samuel colt was most ceartnly the best weapons manufactuar of the time porid if it where not for him warriors would have been using the usual single shot flint lock pistols of the time.(original)

the south who where in desperate need of artillery and due to the lack of rasourss and man owner where not able to make anymore cannons. these cannons where carved from trees and painted black to resemble the cannons of the time. the peces dis heartened the north in many battles because when they saw them they belived there aponiant was being resuplyed but really they where fakeing. as the north pushed into the sourthern terrotory the south where frcedto leav these fakes bhind and once the north saw them they realized there was less to fear from the south than they thought and because of that they fought harder and longer.
